My daughter got this DVD for a Christmas present and it has been heavily played by every member of our family since. If you even remotely like the Rejects you are going to want to check out the DVD.
It has songs from their first CD. Nothing from the CD Move Along will be on this DVD. There are videos on it, there is concert footage, and there is footage of the guys hanging around their hometown of Stillwater, OK.
It is a DVD I let my 8 year old watch so, for the most part, it is an all ages DVD. Minor use of swear words.

The band dropped the ball on this. I like this band, but this is the worst and most poorly put together live album I have ever heard. First off, the cd doesn't inlcude the entire concert and it's not because of time constraints on the cd. The cd is only 50 something minutes. Second, track 9 is a studio version of a song in the middle of a live concert. WTF? I have never seen that in my entire life. A recorded studio track in the middle of a concert. Why not put it after the concert is finished and include the entire concert? This is weak and lazy of the band. At least the dvd is the entire show. I mean who puts a studio version of a song in the middle of a concert cd, it made me laugh. They could have easily put it at the end and put the entire concert on the cd.

I have known Chris and Mike since they played in Mr. Crispy back in our high school days. I have been fortunate enough to watch two AAR concerts from on stage with them and this DVD is even more up close and personal than those experiences were. The quality of the video, sound, and editing are fantastic.

Amazing, Simply amazing. From start to finish, the self-titled sophomore album rocks. I was a huge fan of the After Dark LP and thought they went wrong with their debut album. They more then make it up with this effort. Almost every track, except the slower ones which still are great, break out with great rifts and melodious drum beats. If you are a fan of Hawthorne Heights, Silverstein, Bayside, and any of the screamo bands, you will fall in love with this CD. My personal favorites would have to be degenerates, the deep end, pistol to my temple, holding on, and free again. The slower goes without saying and watch me bleed are also good songs.

"Scary Kids Scaring Kids have spent the last three years touring and cultivating one of the most rabid fan bases in rock n' roll. Their debut album The City Sleeps in Flames has gone on to sell over 100,000 units to date.Admired by critics and fans alike for the band's heaviness coupled with a warming melodic sensibility The City Sleeps in Flames quickly became a hard driving favorite album for music fans in the new alternative rock community. Scary Kids Scaring Kids is famous for its stage antics and powerful two guitar assault.Word of their live show spread throughout the community which caught the eyes and ears of many big bands and in turn landing high profile tours with Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, Silverstein, Emery, Funeral For a Friend and Warped Tour. In April 2007 Scary Kids entered the studio to record their self-titled sophomore album with multi platinum producer Don Gilmore (Linkin Park, Dashboard Confessional, Pearl Jam, Good Charlotte). Don's production led the band to a newfound confidence and distinctive mature sound. The record shows that the band can seamlessly go from punk/hardcore indie darlings to mainstream rock n' roll music makers. "

Believers Never Die - Greatest Hits Review

Believers Never Die - Greatest Hits
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
'Tis the season for a slew of greatest hits albums. The release of Fall Out Boy's 'Believers Never Die' may seem unnecessary or another ploy made by the record company to cash in with one of its biggest acts, and perhaps so, but listening to this compilation of the group's hit songs reminds the listener what's kept this group around and in the limelight for six years now. Let's get something out of the way. There are a few new tracks offered for the listener or FOB fan: "Alpha Dog" and "From Now On We're Enemies." The rest are some of the big singles released by the group from the past six years; the rest are tracks that were released on other albums or EPs. In all, you're getting a collection of the groups popular released singles and some added tracks that've made an impression.
The Good: Since 'Believers Never Die' focuses on the top singles from the group, this release has only the best of Fall Out Boy rather than filler tracks that never made an impression. The best tracks are from their album 'Infinity On High', where the group definitely hit its stride and released a series of catchy tunes that caught everyone's attention, including "This Ain't A Scene, It's An Arms Race", "Thnks fr th Mmrs", "I'm Like A Lawyer With The Way I'm Always Trying To Get You Off (Me & You)". It also includes the Fall Out Boy standards "Sugar, We're Goin Down", "Dance, Dance", and "A Little Less Sixteen Candles, A Little More "Touch Me"". This release includes some of the group's early releases (before they exploded onto the scene with 'From Under the Cork Tree' as well as songs from 'Folie A Deux', their 2008 that didn't make that big of a splash. With the standards being included an added tracks like their Michael Jackson "Beat It Cover" featuring John Mayer on guitar, this is a release for those who may not have all of the group's albums. You're also treated to all of the group's videos with commentary on the limited edition, making it a bit more worth the purchase. Though, the group (to me) is known more for their music than their videos with the exception of one or two.
The Bad: The 'bonus' tracks are just okay to me. When stacked against the group's older material, the tracks seem a tad bit weak and forgettable. As with any greatest hits package, the weakness is that since the music has previously been released, any real fan of the group will already have purchased a majority of these songs. The new songs "Alpha Dogs" and "Believers Never Die" are iffy tracks; perhaps worth downloading the mp3s from Amazon.com separately but they don't sell the album by themselves.
In all, it's a nice collection of music. If "Believers Never Die" accomplishes anything it shows off the best and the talent of the group for producing infectiously addictive songs. It's a must own for any real Fall Out Boy fan; it'd be a nice purchase for someone who may have only purchased one or two albums from the group in the past. Definitely worth checking out.
Listen To These: "Beat It", "This Ain't A Scene, It's An Arms Race", "From Now On We're Enemies"

I recently bought the CD "A Beautiful Lie", and it's the best CD I've ever heard in my life- I can't stop listening to it! Every song is wonderful! It's so amazing that this band, especially Jared Leto is so talented. I knew him as a terrific actor in "Panic Room", "My So Called Life", etc., and had no idea he was such a fantastic singer and song writer. I have been a music lover my whole life and love all kinds of music, but this is the most amazing work I've ever heard! I wish I could give it a million stars!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

With over 15 acclaimed films to his credit, actor Jared Leto knew he had a challenge in creating a legitimate musical group, and the fact that a great many gifted thespians have pumped out some pretty awful albums hasn't slowed him at all. "Any time you have a precedent that's negative like that, you're gonna have an uphill battle," he agrees. "I've never shied away from that." Yet 30 Seconds To Mars' self-titled 2002 debut easily established the group as a fresh, new force, revealing a multi-faceted outfit that thrived on creative exploration and escape.
Three years later, their follow-up, A Beautiful Lie, catapulted the group to even greater success. Where the debut’s line-up featured Jared on all guitar, bass, synth and vocals with brother Shannon on drums, a full collaboration developed with A Beautiful Lie, including guitarist Tomo Milicevic and bassist Matt Wachter. "The last thing we wanted to do was make the same record twice," Leto explains. Hundreds of tour dates and a 1996 MTV Nomination for "Best Video" later, 30 Seconds To Mars are proving their stability and still challenging their position. "We're interested in being as modern as we can," Leto concludes. "We're striving to do something different, to look forward rather than back, to be free from the shadows of our inspiration, and to continue, with our voice to make our mark."

After reading the earlier reviews, they made me a little upset. This album is spectacular. I recently heard these guys in concert, and loved them. I think it is unfair to judge this album compared to the previous album. I think it is funny that people are asking them to change their name so they don't get confused. Just because you are too simple minded to understand and hear the difference between Ronnie and Craig, doesn't mean that they have to change the name of the band.
All albums should be judged independently of any other releases from the band. If this album is worth 5 stars, give it 5 stars, if it is worth 4, give it 4. But what you shouldn't do is give it a low amount of stars because you still have a crush on Ronnie. Let's remember, it isn't Craig's or ETF's fault Ronnie isn't in the band anymore.

Escape the Fate - This War Is Ours -Deluxe Version includes, 4 brandnew studio tracks nad 6 Videos.Escape the Fate went through a lot in 2008, not the least of which was the incarceration of singer Ron Radke. Now re-loaded with Blessthefall vocalist Craig Mabbitt, the band has struck back with the dynamic THIS WAR IS OURS. Neither a raging storm of hardcore screams nor a wounded, emotional mess, the album focuses on Escape the Fate's strengths. The opener, "We Won't Back Down," is blazing and anthemic, with classic "whoas" in the chorus, and the title track balances metalcore toughness with urgent melodies that sound like a band on a mission.

Still Not Getting Any (W/Dvd) (Mcup) Review

Still Not Getting Any (W/Dvd) (Mcup)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Simple Plan's second original CD, "Still Not Getting Any . . . " gives its legion of fans no letdown after the long wait for the second CD. If anything, it is an improvement on the first.
Fans at their shows have already been introduced to "Welcome to My Life" and "Shut Up!", both good, catchy songs just packed with the adolescent angst that is SP's trademark. "Shut Up!" in particular, shows the band's knack for combining downbeat lyrics with upbeat tunes, in a song which I interpret as a teenager's thoughts while being lectured by his parents.
Something's changed a bit from the first CD, and that's the band's perspective. Many of the songs on "No Pads, No Helmets, . . . Just Balls" had the perspective of a teen complaining about a poor relationship with a parent. There's still a bit of that in songs like "Me Against The World" and "Shut Up!", but this time, more songs talk about a romantic relationship gone bad (for example, "Perfect World", "Everytime" and "Thank You"), and the perspective is more young adult than teenager--"Everytime" talks about the partner waking the singer at 3 a.m. and driving to dawn--not likely if still living at home. The band's characters are maturing, as is their music.
Other notable songs include "Crazy", a throwback to Reset's (the predecessor band to Simple Plan) socially-conscious songs, and "Jump", plainly intended as a concert song but very strong in its own right.
Perhaps the strongest song on the CD is "Untitled", a downbeat song with downbeat music, the dying thought of someone who doesn't know why he's dying, and despite the people around him, is dying utterly alone. The sadness which runs through many of the band's works is here in full strength. Softer than usual and using a piano (shades of "Meet You There" on the first CD), even if never released as a single, it may well be the band's best song to date.
While lead singer Pierre Bouvier did almost all the singing on the first CD, much more is heard from backup singers Sebastien Lefebvre and David Derosiers do a lot more of the singing here, and they are well worth listening to.
Extras on the DVD or flip side (depending on edition) include the video for "Welcome to My Life" and the program (shown, I believe, on MTV) about its making.
Highly, highly recommended.

Chase This Light Review

Chase This Light

As they've plugged away for over a decade, crafting music that wears it's heart on it's sleeve so proudly that it's often mistaken for emo, Jimmy Eat World have managed to not only influence a new generation of bands, but also crank out classic after classic. From 1999's "Clarity" --which still goes by underappreciated to this day -- to 2004's groundbreaking, somewhat experimental "Futures," they have yet to miss a step, simultaneously tinkering and fine tuning their sound along the way. So it should come as no surprise that their sixth studio album, "Chase This Light" contains the standard Jimmy Eat World watermarks, such as huge choruses, clap-along verses and plenty of good-guy, let me be your boyfriend gushing from frontman Jim Adkins. But like it's predecessor, "Futures," they're doing their best to grow with their audience and create songs that are more universal and stand the test of time as more than just anthems for your High School prom. With "Chase This Light," they give us the best of both worlds. The sound that won audiences over with the breakthrough album, "Bleed American," is held intact here with songs such as "Carry You" and "Feeling Lucky," while the band explores other avenues later in the album. "Here It Goes" is an upbeat, almost dance-able throwback to the 80's (and no, not of the wretched Fall Out Boy type) that puts a spin on an album that might otherwise play like Jimmy Eat World on autopilot. Likewise, the creepy, crawly "Gotta Be Somebody's Blues" shows off a darker side of Jimmy Eat World that is rarely explored, and turns out to be one of the better songs of the album. To be truthful, there isn't a bad song on this disc, but the reason why it gets four stars instead of five is because on too many songs, they play it safe. They've shown they can go in new directions and make it work, so why bother churning out the same kind of songs we've heard already? In all honesty, a couple songs turn out sounding like "Bleed American" or "Futures" b-sides (not that they've ever recorded a bad b-side) and that's not a good sign. Even still, fans should be thrilled with this album and as usual, it's something that anyone from any walk of life should be able to pick up and appreciate in one way or another. It's just another good ol' Jimmy Eat World album, and that's okay.

Jimmy Eat World, one of rock's most lasting and loved icons, return with Chase This Light. The first album since 2004's Futures finds the band partnered with legendary producer Butch Vig (Nirvana, Smashing Pumpkins) overseeing as executive producer. Largely recorded in the band's own studio in Arizona, Chase This Light has a powerful optimism and, like 2001's beloved platinum break-through Jimmy Eat World (aka Bleed American), each song finds a way to compel the listener to keep coming back again and again to discover a new favorite.Jimmy Eat World have the unique ability to be a bands-band as well as fans-band, marrying credibility with a tuneful accessibly that makes them a permanent fixture of the modern music scene. Jimmy Eat World never stop striving to make the best music of their career, Chase This Light proves this.

when it comes to listening to music i try to avoid comparing the bands new cd to their previous ones. with tbs, this is hard. "tell all your friends" is without a doubt a classic album and is the best in this genre of music. there's no denying that. then nolan left the band and tbs changed its lineup and "where you want to be" was the result. despite the different vocalist and sound, i thought "WYWTB" was a excellent record and was close to "TAYF" but not quite.
now comes april 25 and "louder now" is released and upon first listen, there's no doubt that TBS have progressed as a band. whether their progression is a positive or a negative, i don't know. that's up to the listener. i myself love when bands think outside the box and evolve and keep doing so for each record they put out (i.e. saves the day). although they're initial sound with "TAYF" is no longer present i can't help to enjoy their progression and the fact that they finally made a rock record.
like my review title says, they have unleashed the guitars and the whole feel to the album is just more rock. yes, tbs is the definition of emo and there's alot of emotion here, but as for the musicianship it's just a lot better than their previous two. there's actually guitar solos in half the songs. true, they signed to major label warner bros so i think this rock transition is appropriate. i hate when people accuse bands of selling out. i admit that i hate when bands sign for the money and not for the right reason which is to reach out to more people. but unless the band says they did it for the money, don't accuse them for it! just let it go and sit back and enjoy the great record they created which is "louder now"
for fans deciding whether they will like this, you will. if you're a true tbs fan you'll definitely appreciate this album. if you're a trendy emo kid and you would live and/or die for their first record, you might want to preview first. half the songs are trademark tbs but the other half are experimental and even kind of dark with extra emphasis on the guitars. lyric quality is close to their last album (not any where as good as TAYF) and the songs are catchier then ever with unbelievable hooks.
standouts are "what's it feel like to be a ghost", "make damn sure", "miami", and "my blue heaven". the whole cd is solid and this will be in the top 5 of 2006. definitely recommended.

I was very impressed when I heard this CD in a friend's car, so I went out and bought it!
I was not disappointed in the least.
This really does satisfy my punk/emo needs. Full of emotion, young adult problems, they really do make it bleed realistically.
Favorite tracks, "Cute without the "E"!
*grins*
Go out and buy some good music, but I can't guarantee you'll like it, because this stuff IS a bit different. Loud, and a bit confusing. But emotional and at times, eye opening.
A favorite lyric from this album "...and you can slit my throat, and with my last gasping breath, I'll apologize for bleeding on your shirt."
Stuff like that is just like...WOW.....

Taking Back Sunday draws forth images of what would be born of a marriage between Thursday and Saves The Day. The songs feature passionate, heartfelt lyrics that any listener easily identifies with. In December 2001,Victory Records signed Taking Back Sunday and put them in the skillful hands of producer Sal Villanueva and engineer Tim Gilles (Thursday's 'Full Collapse'). The result is a beautiful blend of passion, emotion and sincerity that is unrivaled in the budding emo-rock scene today. I've been a Mae fan for about a year, and I've been eagerly anticipating this EP. I wasn't sure how it would be since most people consider their best work already completed, but this album is amazing. The songs flow together seamlessly. This album still has that experimental sound to it that might keep the mass crowds away, but Mae stayed true to their style while still branching away from their previous work. I love this EP!

I can honestly say this CD/DVD set captured my attention from beginning to end. The Video Diary chronicles the history of My Chemical Romance from their humble beginnings to the world famous group they now are. The story is told through their own words and the words of those who know them best. It is an honest documentary that deals with their struggles including the alcoholism and drug use of lead singer Gerard Way. He overcame his additions giving hope to many young people. It is refreshing to see talented musicians who stay true to themselves and their music while deeply caring for their fans. Also included are the videos from "Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge". Two videos for the song "I'm Not Okay (I Promise). One is the video normally seen and the other is a video which is great because if gives up a glimpse into the homelife of the Way brothers at the time. However, not only do you get the videos you also get the "Making of the Videos". It is so interesting to see just how much work and thought goes into making these videos. On the DVD you can also find TV Appearances and Online Performances all of which are full of energy that the band is so well known for. The CD has 11 live performances which are excellent and there is even a previously unreleased jewel titled "Desert Song" which is hauntingly beautiful. "My Chemical Romance Life on the Murder Scene" is a must for any MCR fan but I believe is a a must for any music fan

Paramore's known for attracting a pretty young crowd, and that's understandable given how young the band itself is. But I'm a 35 year old guy who's gotten just as hooked on them as any of their teen audience. This is just some great rock music, with great hooks in almost every song and some amazing musicianship all around. Hopefully they'll continue to mature and continue to broaden their fan base as they progress.
The MVI DVD was my first Paramore purchase, and it's a great buy. I have to give special mention to the fact that there are actual mp3's on this disc for you to download to your PC - no DRM involved. That's gotta be something pretty new for Warner Music (the band is signed to Fueled by Ramen, but Warner apparently handles the distribution), and I hope that they continue doing it and that more labels follow suit. There are a ton of other great extras on the DVD, including live and promotional videos (the two things I cared about most) as well as other stuff I was less interested in like wallpapers, AIM icons, and screensavers. It also includes the lyrics to all of the songs on the album, which is a good thing in this case - the printed liner notes are written in a style that's pretty hard to read.
Just to be clear about what this comes with, since I think the Amazon page is a little confusing, this package comes with both a DVD and a regular audio CD that includes the full album plus bonus tracks. (Amazon shows "disc 2" above as only including the bonus tracks, which is not the case. It's the full album.) In other words, *both discs* have the full album - the only difference is the format. And of course the DVD has all the extras.
I was worried initially that there was going to be some sort of surreptitious installation of various tracking programs installed when I put this DVD into my computer - you know, like the major labels usually do these days. I'm still not 100% convinced that isn't the case, but I will say that their terms of use and privacy policies seem adamant that there is nothing of the sort, and it seems that the entire DVD interface is just a Macromedia Flash file - it's like viewing a Flash web site. You can also just watch it as a standard DVD if you like. The way their terms of use is worded makes it sound like they know about all the stuff that went on with the Sony rootkit fiasco and they don't want anyone to think that's going to happen with this DVD. I certainly hope that's the case, as I've now watched it on my PC probably half a dozen times already.
There's really no reason to buy the standard CD over the MVI DVD given all it comes with. You're really just getting a lot more with this package for only a couple bucks extra. It's totally worth it.
