Another solid cd from Funkadelic. Definitely for the Funkateer young or old!!! Of course the title cut "One Nation Under A Groove" is great, eventhough it is the 7:28 version, but there are other definitive jams on here. "Groovallegiance" is real low down and funky!! "Cholly" is a solid groove and gets you ready to roll. "Who Says A Funk Band Can't Play Rock" is a serious cut that demands immediate attention from the listener, because Funkadelic throws down on this one. "Lunchmeataphobia" is a real funk/rock groove that will tickle your senses. "Maggot Brain" is simply marvelous, like always, plus it is the live, "...ain't illegal yet" version. This entire CD represents the masterful composition and artistry of George Clinton, Bernie Worrell, and Gary Shider. The lyrics are pure, the melodies are solid, and the beats are simply funky. All Funkateers must have this CD, otherwise their collection is incomplete until they possess it.

i have remained a hardcore frusciante fan since he left, yet found the peppers albums since his return more and more disapointing (not entirely, just mostly).
then..this album. WOW! if you have given up on them after bssm or even before, you must give them another chance! by far the best thing they have ever done. too many favorite songs to list, although slow cheetah is currently my fav.
now, about the expensive version...
i hate to say i feel ripped off because the music contained is worth every penny and then some, but, well...i feel ripped off.
an extra $30 or so for basically a dvd is what i feel like i got.
the packaging just makes getting to the cd's harder, the dvd is just ok, nothing great. another funky monks type documentary would have been pure magic, the album being recorded in the same mansion, etc. the "28 page booklet" is merely the lyrics and credits and some photos, basically what they probably added in a smaller version on the regular version of the cd. the "original artwork" also could've just been part of the cheaper versions booklet (and maybe it is). everything else is just junk trinckets not worth the extra mony. marbles, blank paper, and a wooden top.
anyways...i cant recommend the more than double price sticker for a crummy gimmick, but the actual album has got to be one of my all time top 5 albums already, and this coming from someone who basically gave up on them after bssm. buy the new cd without hesitation, but proceed with caution on throwing down your money for an overpriced box of junk is all im trying to say.

Anthony Kiedis of the Red Hot Chili Peppers calls the band’s first new album in four years, Stadium Arcadium, the most-anticipated album of the spring, "the best thing that we’ve ever done…. There’s this weird kind of sublime, subliminal undercurrent that is suggestive, in a spirited way, of our earliest records." Exuding all the passion, energy and funked-up rock that have made the Red Hot Chili Peppers one of the most popular bands in history, the 2-CD Stadium Arcadium, simply put, will knock your socks off. The Limited Edition is a 3D-image shadow box containing a 28-page book, velvet bag with marbles, a wooden top, a matchbook notepad and four art notes, one by each band member. When life deals you lemons, you make lemonade. After the tremendous failure of The Fire's 1983 cosmic voyage, Electric Universe, the legendary band came crashing down to Earth. After a four-year hiatus and a few solo efforts, a reformed EW&F picked up the pieces and released Touch The World, which I consider to be their "down to Earth" album.
Just the fact that the group was willing to come back was enough to make me smile, but how is the album??? Well, I know you want to hear that all the original members came back with their instruments cocked and ready, and just blew the roof off the joint, but let's be real. Those Phenix Horns don't work cheap, and hey, wouldn't a drum machine be more economically sound than dragging Ralph Johnson back into the studio? No, the synthetics that dominated the last album are still there, but wait a minute. This actually sounds like R&B! Also, the album has a much more street feel than ever before, with much attitude and plenty of "boom-bap" in almost every cut. The joints to cue up here are "System Of Survival", which challenges everyday stress with dance; "Evil Roy", for those cats that stay doin' nuthin'; "Thinking Of You", another slick R&B cut; and "Touch The World", which features the Hawkins Family and is the first gospel joint from this group since "In The Stone" off their '79 album, I Am. This album stands out because of its era-appropriateness at the time of release.
No song on this album is truly wack, but the album does have its faults. One being the lost chemistry between Maurice and Phillip, possibly due to the already seasoned solo career of Phillip Bailey. Another being that there are virtually NO live instruments outside of synthesizers. Andrew Woolfolk saxes it up on "New Horizons", but then he's ghost. The group did an excellent job in redefining themselves, but even with only 5 members, you know there is just too much talent there for this to be the best they can offer. These negatives are, however, outweighed by many positives: Not only did this album put EW&F back on the map to gold status, but it also brought them back to their core R&B audience, and most importantly, Earthly subject matter. Overall, this is a trump tight budget album that brought a glimmer of hope to Earth Wind's future and truly touched the world.

Rick James is more remembered for his drug and criminal problems but in his hey day, he produced some superior funk music. Street Songs ranks with any funk album and Mr. James has never been better. The album features the ubiquitous "Super Freak" which has taken on a life of its own. Despite the overplay of it, the song has a vicious bass line and is a master groove. There are other superb cuts on the album like the sultry "Give It To Me Baby", the open come on of "Make Love To Me", the smoldering "Fire & Desire" and "Call Me". The album isn't all about parties as he speaks of inner city troubles in "Ghetto Love" that is set over a sweet groove, the scathing indictment of police indifference in "Mr. Policeman" and the drug scene in "Below The Funk (Pass The J)". The remastered version contains great 12" mixes of "super Freak" and "Give It To Me Baby" as well as a second disk with blazing live performances.

Live at the Beverly Theatre in Hollywood Review

The album is a melting pot of P-Funk originals that go on and on. This is a good thing. The mark of a fine band is when they can play live and just have FUN. Too many people want to hear their songs played exactly how they were done on the studio recordings, and they forget that the band likes to have fun too.
Dennis Chambers is already one of the world's best drummers, and he really let it shine in this recording. The synergy between him and the Bass Player was incredible. They were a fusion of Funk, and the gods were happy that night they played.
It's a FUN album. Clinton does his thing as does Maceo and Skeet. The crowd loved them, and they all had a blast. This makes for an incredible live album.
If you are looking for P-funk to be played exactly how you heard it in a studio recording, DO NOT buy this album. You won't like it. If you are open-minded and have a great sense of fun and love to explore the ins-and-outs of the artist and their music, then by all means buy this album. YOu will go on a journey of Funkadelic Mayhem that will leave you jonesing for more.

WOW! What a great CD! Bring back the 80's man! This CD has all of the songs from the earily 80's Break Dancing Era. I enjoyed Radioactivity and Tour De France the most. "Let's Jam, Let's Jam Radioactivity" and "Pal la vue misure, Tour De France Tour De France" (smile). I was a 3rd grade break dancing and pop locking when these songs were released back in 1983. Last, "Shackles" by R.J.'s Latest Arrival was the best break dance song ever written. This is the best CD I have ever purchased that has the 3 most popular break dance and pop locking songs from that time period. This is a must buy and I highly recommend this CD because it contains some of the songs and artist who pioneered Rap and Hip Hop with Electronic Beats, Drum machines, and Mixing and Scratching. "Shackles on my feet, won't let me dance, Shackles on my feet won't let me stand, turn up the music that has a nice beat, Turn it up loud and take these shackles off my feet." Can you see me break dancing I am so happy I finally found these song after years of searching for the lost 12 inch records and CDs(smile and jam with me)?

They're baaaaaaaaaaaaack!!! And, not a minute too soon. Patti, Nona & Sarah still have it all goin' on! An amazing album!
Patti's soaring soulful vocals; Nona's optimal funk; and, Sarah's exquisite harmonizing have always been the stuff of Musical Legend. Labelle is still fresh after 32 long years of absence from the Music Scene.
Having had the privilege of bearing witness to their many 'incarnations' from the Bluebelles to their solo careers, this musically jaded writer can sincerely say this is one of their top musical endeavors.
Don't wait for Santa to be kind to you - get this fabulous album now. You'll be playing it over and over and discovering new delights each time you play it. BRAVA DIVAS!!!

Labelle is backwith one of the most anticipated recordings of 2008! Sounding every bit as sassy, fresh and edgy as in their heyday, Patti, Nona and Sarah have brought together some of the powerhouse talents of today & yesterday to create a true event. The first single 'Rollout' prominently features Wyclef Jean on an upbeat contemporary anthem that will expose Labelle to a whole new audience. Lenny Kravitz plays all over the three tracks he produced combining unique R&B retro sounds with his natural rock edge. The Masters of Philly Soul Kenneth Gamble & Leon A. Huff bring their magic to four of the album's ten tracks. The album closes with a recording of 'Miss Otis Regrets' from 1969.Produced by Kit Lambert.

The 80's have always been awfully associated with bad clothes, bad hair and to some...bad music. I, for one have always liked 80's stuff and I can see it more these days when people aren't able to come up with new lyrics and or new music but just remake good old stuff.
REFORMATION is a reminder to us of the good old days when music was made to make you feel good,..(never mind their eye liner or their padded jackets)..no violent lyrics...no BIG BASS that would make you throw up...no electronica beats that either put you to sleep or worse, make you dizzy. Don't get me wrong...I can appreciate most of the different genres but the 80's seem to be closest to my heart.
Spandau Ballet altho not as commercially popular as the ever-evolving Duran Duran, has made some really good music and it is in this worthy 3 CD Pack with their pictures during their younger years beautifully crafted by people behind Chrysalis Records...I can say that this THEIR collection to keep.
Standout cuts for me are:
*Updated version of True....altho the original will never be out of place at any time, it gives me shivers to hear TONY HADLEY's (brilliant vocals) crystal clear voice and it is evident why there really is no need for lyrics sheet, TONY HADLEY has the voice!
*Heaven Is a Secret....an almost unnoticed song from the TRUE album but i reckon it is one of the gems...a very feel good song
*With The Pride....another underappreciated ballad from Spandau showcasing Tony's emotional singing (hmmmm...Round and Round has been overlooked...)
* ALL LIVE TRACKS ARE THE REASON WHY I BOUGHT THIS CD....I have been waiting for this for ages as this is the proof why Spandau Ballet is one of the best live artists and fares them far off from DURAN DURAN....
* The remixes are fine specially the almost epic GOLD, uplifting LIFELINE,.., witty COMMUNICATION...my favorite- THAT OTHER VERSION (from the 12" LP) of HIGHLY STRUNG. This will make you think how far remixes have evolved from the 80's when people were just contented with 1 Extended version....perhaps a Dub Version or an instrumental version not like these days when one song will be remixed by a whole school of DJ's but I am not complaining...
Let us also not undermine Gary Kemp's ever consistent writing and of course the whole bands efforts. I can also not imagine that these blokes were barely in their 20's when they started singing about life, love and everything in between. Those were the happy era of the 80's and it's just sad that they ceased to make the same music as before.
Meantime, REFORMATION is a happy adventure back in time...buy it, try it and you'll thank CHRYSALIS for this new GEM to treasure....GOLD indeed.

I'm in funk heaven! As a longtime Parliament/Funkadelic worshipper who was tragically born too late to see them in their prime, this DVD offers a long overdue pleasure overload. Never mind the cranks who are criticizing some parts of this DVD, and dig the pure uncut funk instead. Sure, the video quality here leaves something to be desired, but this was recorded on film in the mid-70's. I would also recommend that you increase the brightness on your player or computer as much of the video is very dark. But that's because the stage lights were presented for the live audience, not for some future DVD that people could pick apart on electronic equipment. My only legitimate beef with this package is the lack of documentation or background about the concert recorded, and a personnel listing of the huge mob on stage would have been helpful.
But on the good side (and all that is good is nasty) you get a wide selection of funk bombs from the catalogs of both Parliament and Funkadelic, performed by the best and brightest of the ever-evolving P-Funk mob, plus the Mothership itself in all its freaky glory. On top of it all we see mainman George Clinton leading the insanity in a parade of shock-inducing wigs and outfits, and whipping the crowd into a frenzy. Fave musical moments are the opener "Cosmic Slop" with Mike Hampton's superhuman guitar solos, a slammin' "Standing on the Verge of Getting' It On" featuring a frantic Fuzzy Haskins as MC, and "Mothership Connection" where the brilliant (and dearly departed) Glenn Goins really shines. Visually, you gotta love the classic outfits sported by all the members of the funk mob, like Maceo Parker and the Horny Horns, laidback genius Bernie Worrell, Stingray Davis, Grady Thomas, Calvin Simon (seen rarely), the Brides of Funkenstein, and especially Garry Shider with diaper and pacifier. Unfortunately the bass player and drummer are barely pictured through the entire DVD; my guesses would be Cordell Mosson and Jerome "Bigfoot" Brailey, but it sure would be nice to see them. In the grand finale, "Night of the Thumpasaurus Peoples", Bootsy Collins (who rules) makes a special appearance along with the rest of his Rubber Band. Apparently Sly and the Family Stone were up there too, but by that point it's hard to tell who's who among the 40-plus funksters on stage.
If you dig the funk in any way, and especially if you're a P-Funk aficionado, dismiss the minor technical limitations of this DVD and just let the performance blow the cobwebs out your mind.

Considering the status of Fela Kuti it's unbelivable that a band as incredible
as the Poly Rythmo have been submitted to dust for so long. This is even better
than "The Vodoun Effect", and easily wins the price of reissue of the year.
With rock n roll bands you talk about kicking ass, but with the afrobeat/funk
bands it's about shaking it, and when The Orhestre Poly Rythmo lock in on the
groove they are capable of making an elephant shake his giant yash like the
tail of an alligatooor in heat!
I'm in awe! Songs like Houe Djein Nada, Agnon Dekpe, Gan Tche Kpo, Malin Kpon O
and Azon De Ma is right up there with Fela.
The music is a highly original and hypnotic combination of traditional rhythms,
funk, soul, latin and afrobeat. And at times the organ bring a psychedelic rock
n roll feeling to their music.
Even the weaker(as in less amazing!)songs have some astonishing moments.
The rythms are both infectious and highly complex. Sensational stuff!
This is the fourth time Analog Africa comes up with a regular goldmine, and as always
they deliver a beautiful, informative package in addition to the music.
Get it! Twice!!

I have been a Commisioned fan from back in the day. I bought this cd and first listened to it while making a 3 hour road trip. I know that the cars passing me must have thought I was crazy, I couldn't stop singing to the top of my lungs like I had lost my mind! Not only is it enjoyable musically,(the band is tight!) but the lyrics compell you to worship God. This cd took me back to times when songs like Secret Place, Tis So Sweet, Ordinary Just Won't do ,Hold me and many more songs helped to carry me through some testing times in my christian walk. Listening to these cds made me reflect on God's goodness and faithfulness and how He used Commissioned's ministry to bring me through. All I can say is THANK YOU LORD FOR COMMISSIONED!!!!!!!! Even if you have never been a Commissioned fan, get this cd, focus on the lyrics and you'll get what I'm saying.

In listening to this cd for the first time I found myself thinking that it would be really good music for the beach or a pool party, when you have to be aware of those around you. There is absolutely nothing offensive in the lyrics, the music is upbeat and catchy, and is more N Sync in style than Hannah Montana or Jonas Brothers. I do think the entire record would have been much more enjoyable if the female backup vocals were heard more-her voice is lovely. Safe for the young and old, not as obnoxious as some for the parents.

"We wrote the majority of our album ourselves. It's not like we looked through a catalog and picked out some songs." To that end, the Ballas Hough Band's debut puts a deeply personal spin on pop, with songs like "Fall" and "Devastated," which recount worldly lives that left a trail of broken hearts. "When we first started playing our music for the label, our A&R guy was, like, 'Man, what's wrong with you guys? We need more positivity!' All our songs were negative and hurtful, because Mark and I have been in a lot of relationships that have really hurt us. We were just going off life experience. He was probably thinking we're not old enough to know, but we do. We get music from hurt, so we had a lot to work with."To channel those emotions in the studio, they turned to in demand producer John Fields (Jimmy Eat World, Jonas Bros., Andrew W.K.), who, not unexpectedly, didn't have high hopes for an album by a couple of dancers. "When we first went in to work with him, you could tell he was pretty skeptical," says Derek, who was a big fan of Fields' work with Switchfoot. "He'd only agreed to do one song, but once we started laying down tracks, he saw that we could write and play and we had this great chemistry. We ended up doing nine songs with him." Adds Mark: "Once he jumped on board, it was like a freight train. He has amazing vision and we were on the same wavelength 100 percent of the time. Everything turned out exactly like I hoped it would." On the Maroon 5-flavored "Devastated" and "She Was The One," Ballas Hough Band worked with Eric Valentine, who produced the latest album by All American Rejects. "Where John is, like, boom, boom, boom, Eric is more about cool and controlled mayhem," says Derek. "He doesn't wear shoes, he's very soft-spoken, and he looks at music as a science."Of the songs that aren't BHB originals, the first single, "Do It For You," was co-written by new American Idol judge Kara Dioguardi and makes for the perfect introduction to the band's pop sensibilities."It's really catchy, like one of those songs you walk away singing that gets stuck in your head," says Mark, "It's rhythmic, hooky and huge." But he's perhaps most proud of the song "Longing For," the final song he wrote for the album. It features Mark's intricate guitar-work, Emily's wistful harmonies, tug-at-your-heartstrings melodies and lyrics that read like the love letter ever girl pines for: I remember the first time that you and I met / And the look in your eye was something I could never forget / When you're with me baby you never need to pretend / Tell me what do you need / I want to be the reason you breathe."We've been working extremely hard, putting in 14-hour days, playing two shows a night," Derek confesses. "But we do it because it's what we love. And hopefully, this album will speak to an audience who will look at us as singers, writers, and players. We want to be known for our music."

Many people simply do not understand why this album is so good. Let me break it down. After leaving Motown (Last Album there was Moving Violation -- which was excellent by the way), Jacksons moved over to Epic. Had 2 good albums, "The Jacksons" & "Going Places". Both were not big sellers. Then they hit paydirt with this one. This Album, I believe was released during their 10 year in show business. This had the funkiness that had always been in the Jacksons, but because of the bubble gum tunes that they had previously recorded, there true potential never came out.
"The Things I Do For You" -- Hey, who hasn't been there, you know you have been tired of someone who hasn't appreciated what you do. This is another groovin side.
"Blame it on the Boogie" makes you want to dance, but for those of us who REALLY REMEMBER -- (PRE "THRILLER" or "VICTORY") The Jacksons were some serious brothers. 10 foot afros, serious sequined jumpsuits, spins, dips, the woodpecker dance(Leg bent, bent over, head moving like a woodpecker, arm pointing straight out...this same move is recreated in the new movie with "Remember the Titans" with Denzel Washington, those of us who remember our roots do know about all of this). "Shake your Body Down To The Ground" is the song EVERYONE danced to ---Grandma, Uncle Billy, Cousin Jeff, Ned the wino, Miss Jane up the block, y'all know what I'm talking about. Hell everyone wanted to be the Jacksons! Even the Osmonds ripped them off when their barbershop quartet gig wasn't working!
If you really want to remember Black America as it was back in the day, community, family reunions, block parties, and loving you some Jacksons, get this Album. And really listen to the song "Destiny". It's a song that I think really captures what was in Michael's heart at the time. Reminiscence y'all.

Includes two bonus tracks. On this 1978 album, The Jacksons were turned loose to write and produce themselves, and the result is their best studio album ever. The dance tracks like 'Blame It On The Boogie' and the hit 'Shake Your Body (Down To The Ground)' still sound fresh while the ballads are heartfelt and smooth. The album peaked at#3 on the Billboard albums chart in 1979. 10 tracks.--This text refers to an alternate Audio CD edition.

In an age dominated by vapid smooth jazz Duke (as at any time)
stood alone.Notably on "Fame","Keeping Love Alive" and the tital
tune George Duke's keyboard-addled blend of jazz and funk is very
much intact-much of "Snapshot" sounding like his previous album
"Night After Night" in 1989!On "Speak Low" and "Geneva" we also
here examples of Duke's work as a pure instrumentalist and on
the stomping "Bus Tours" he gives us NO DOUDT where his music
comes from.He is a dynamic fusion artist through and through and
no matter how time or music changes fasion George Duke always
keeps his signture smorgasboard of jazz, funk,R&B,rock and his
own unique way with the keys at the top of the mix.A fine moment
in a VERY long line of fine moments.

Shobaleader One: d'Demonstrator Review

Shobaleader One: d'Demonstrator
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
With the awkwardly titled "Shobaleader One: d'Demonstrator," Tom Jenkinson fully commits to a refinement of the sound he hinted at with portions of 2008's "Just a Souvenir." The big revelation: Squarepusher can write lush, sexy pop songs, and not just every now and then. Here's essentially an entire album of insanely catchy electro-pop without the jazz fusion interludes he's historically been fond of. SO:d reflects a purity of vision that rivals that of "Go Plastic," though musically it inhabits a different universe. Those were willfully dense, abrasive, and thoroughly difficult pieces. These are SONGS.
The album's lead track, "Plug Me In," and "Abstract Lover" are both retro-futuristic slow jamz that should have R&B artists on their knees at Tom's doorstep begging for him to produce. "Synchronize our soul . . baby, that's how we roll . . " he and his vocoder purr in the former. That's as good a description for these two tracks as any . . "synchronized soul." What does that mean? I don't know, but it sounds right.
"Megazine" is getting the most notice, partially because of the video featuring the hoodie-and-LED-mask clad Shobaleader One "band." I wouldn't be surprised if "Megazine" becomes 'Pusher's best-known track ever, as it's a hurtling Daft Punk-style rave up that will have the faceless Frenchmen embarassed they ever released "Robot Rock." It's as catchy as "My Red Hot Car" without the salacious lyrics, and works equally well in the club or through headphones in your bedroom. Even thinking about this track will get your head bobbin'.
"Into the Blue" is a dreamy pop confection that reminded me instantly of Frou Frou's "Let Go." It, more than any other track here, gets more and more addictive with repeated listens. Tom again shows off an impeccable ear for hooks and little background details that keep the track fresh even after dozens of listens. "Into the Blue" follows a classic pop structure, yet is much more complex and nuanced than "A Real Woman," from "Just a Souvenir," for example. If any of the current "It" singers covered this, it would be a monster hit.
The lightest track here is the lush "Frisco Wave," but that's hardly a criticism. It's one of the few tracks here with no lyrics, but Tom still makes prudent use of the vocoder by adding some impossibly beautiful backing vocals to the tail end of what was already a very warm and appealing concoction.
The hidden gem here . . at least the track that snuck up on me . . is "Endless Night." This is what's so great about Squarepusher; this track shouldn't make sense, as Tom spins some lite funk, glassy synths, a hint of speed metal, and squelchy electronica into a true composition. Yet, it's somehow natural. It doesn't feel at all like Tom's showing off.
SO:d started out immensely playful, but ends on a note of menace. "Cryptic Motion" exaggerates the funk of "Endless Night," brings back the robotic vocals, and layers on 80's-style synths that manage to sound both cheesy and creepy at the same time. The closing track, "Maximum Planck," evokes pure dread with its slow, chugging guitar (think Soundgarden's "4th of July") and only shards of melody, until at the 3:50 mark it explodes into 60 seconds of "Steinbolt" style thrash. "Steinbolt" is one of my favorite tracks from "Ultravisitor," but it eventually collapses into confounding avant-noise excess. Here, the cacaphony is brief before Tom takes us in for a gentle landing with some gothic keyboard washes and acoustic guitar. This is a brilliant, unpredictable track to wrap up what was, for the most part, a beautiful but somewhat easy ride.
All in all, an outstanding effort. This is the type of album that works as a cohesive piece, yet each track stands proudly alone. Several are stunners. This might be the one that expands TJ's audience past the die-hards, and it should keep the die-hards breathlessly anticipating his next move. I don't know how many reinventions Tom has in him, but I'm on board.

This is by far the most accessible record Squarepusher (aka Tom Jenkinson) has ever made. This was not the original intent, but the result is clear. This record will change the way people view Squarepusher. Having been known as a leader and innovator in Drum 'n Bass and various forms of up tempo electronic music for 15 years, Jenkinson was always able to push the boundaries of the genre, but on ''Shobaleader One: d'Demonstrator'', he is pushing so far beyond his previous releases it is easy to hear why it might take a few listens to register that this is indeed a Squarepusher record. Vocals? R&B rhythms? Heavy synths? These and other un-Squarepusher like elements form what could even be described as 'baby makin' music'. Jenkinson's vast knowledge of rhythm and harmony help to make these songs much more than nu-soul R&B, they are truly an entity unto themselves.

Euge Groove is a progressive jazz sax man who is beginning to make a name for himself. He plays a funkified saxophone that is very ear catching to say the least. Songs like "Too Cool" and "Slam Dunk", from his prior CD are Jazz funk instrumentals, designed to make the listener get up and groove. Euge Groove is currently the SAX player in the Joe Cocker band which is currently touring the world for Cocker's "HEART AND SOUL TOUR". Euge is also the opening act, and has received great reviews for his work on the tour. Check him out if you can.

I attended the 2005 leg of this clinic in Phoenix. Before the clinic began, Steve took the time to meet every person waiting in a long, long line to see him. When it was my turn to meet him, he looked me in the eye, asked me questions, and listened to me intently. He also signed the bottom of my K Custom Session ride cymbal (from the line that he helped design with Zildjian). Then as I started to walk away with my wife, Steve motioned for her to come back so he could meet and speak with her as well. He expressed this genuine interest in everyone he met at the event. He is truly a wonderful person. Steve employed a warm, conversational tone throughout the clinic that followed. He communicated his ideas and techniques in understandable ways, and he demonstrated them on the drumset. While watching him break down some of his grooves, a sense of awe engulfed me; yet at the same time I felt inspired and empowered to become an innovative drummer in my own right. GET THIS DVD!
