(More customer reviews)This woman can sing!! But that's not what amazed me- what got me was she can effortlessly switch from one musical style to another and flawlessly don different personas. One moment she's country belle crooner, and the next song she's a broadway starlet, then she's a smooth rocker.
Megan has a beautiful voice and her performances are so charismatic and delivered with so much personality that it's hard to not like this album!
I shocked my husband with this, telling him I had a CD of "Karen Walker" singing. He said, "oh, God," and laughed, because all the only thing most people know of her voice is the one she dons for her TV character. I hit play and he was blown away. He muttered "wow!" in reply.
The first track, 'Bathroom Window,' she starts by belting "She came in through the bathroom window..." and there's no denying her talent, and the beauty and power of her voice from the get go. I was afraid that the song selection wouldn't be my cup of tea (I'm 23 and haven't heard of many of these songs), but I adore it.
Go, go, Megan!!

(More customer reviews)You know you're getting old when your kids start demanding their own CDs, and it seems like that stage occurs earlier and earlier with every generation. After listening to my music for the first seven years of his life, my son now wants exclusive listening rights to his latest favorites, namely Snack Time, Crazy Frog, anything American Idol, Jonas Brothers and now Vanessa Hudgens.
Don't tell him, but this is one I don't mind listening to in the car, especially after months of Davids Cook and Archuleta and the Jonas Brothers "SOS". (Mind you, I still like Crazy Frog - Bam! Bam!)
Hudgens may not be the best singer around, but the arrangements and great song choices make up for this, and her fresh faced good looks don't hurt either. The good songs (even for elderly folk above 25) include first single "Sneakernight" a three minute dance track; first track "Last Night"; the title track; "First Bad Habit"; "Hook It Up" (a Gwen Stefani-type track); "Amazed"; "Don't Leave" and "Did It Ever Cross Your Mind" (mid tempo).
The dance tracks definitely dominate the album, which is a solid follow up to her 2006 debut album "V". Make a note of this one for the "High School Musical" fans on your gift list.Amanda Richards, July 5, 2008

(More customer reviews)Let me preface by saying that I love all kinds of music. From Country to Hip-hop, I love everything. My favorite band in the world is Dave Matthews Band, a band who much like ZBB is better live than in the studio. It took me a while to listen to "The Foundation" album because I wasn't immediately a fan of "Chicken Fried," but "Whatever it is" brought me on board to the idea of listening to it, and when I heard "Highway 20 Ride" for the first time I knew it was an album that I needed to listen to. But let me get to this album. There are 18 tracks available. The deluxe edition has 16, and the iTunes version carries an additional two tracks.
Now to the music.... WOW. Zac Brown Band is the best band to come along in the last 5 years and "Colder Weather" is possibly the best song I have heard in the last 5. I remember hearing it for the first time. I was watching the ZBB webcast from Bonaroo on Youtube live, and they were playing a fantastic show. About half-way through Zac took a breather and told the crowd that he was about to sing a song that he considered the best he had ever written. I wasn't sure what to expect, but from that beautiful piano intro, I was hooked! I was so upset that I didn't have a copy of this song that I went looking everywhere for it. I finally discovered that the song was available on a Live CD that the band had released entitled "Pass The Jar" so I immediately scooped it up. And that's how this crazy ZBB fan was born.
This album is incredible! I don't know how else to say it. From the catchy and single worthy opener "Let It Go" to the upbeat jamboree of "Whiskeys Gone" to the INCREDIBLE "Martin", a song about a man of music and the importance of his guitar, this album shines. It is not a country album. It is an album with some country songs, but mostly this is an album of unadulterated music. This is music. There is no genre, there is no box to place this band in, they are simply musicians and they present themselves as such. Lyrically this album is astounding, and much like Dave Matthews, Zac Brown WRITES all of his songs. You just don't find that often these days. So here's my take, song-by-song. Listen to this album! It is AMAZING!
1. Let It Go (10/10) - A catchy, singly worthy tune with a great hook. One of the best on the album
2. Knee Deep feat Jimmy Buffet (9/10)- this is more of a"toes" type song. It'll be great by the pool or on the beach next summer. Jimmy Buffet adds an increased island feel. Love it.
3. No Hurry (10/10) - Just a beautiful intro. I was hooked from second number one. Great lyrics, great musicality, very chill feel. Catchy chorus once again.
4. I Play the Road (9/10) - Another feel good song by the ZBB. Nothing sounds the same with this band, and the whole thing is filled with hooks that are memorable and delightful.
5. Cold Hearted (10/10) - Fantastic song about caring for someone who only hurts you with their cold heart. It reminds me of something from Motown almost. I'm not sure why, but it sounds familiar and different at the same time.
6. Whiskey's Gone (9/10) - The "Chicken Fried" of this album. This is one of the country songs on this album, but it's as great as most of the album.
7. Quiet Your Mind (10/10) - This song has a rock edge to it with this gospel inflection that's just amazing! QUIET YOUR MIND!
8. Colder Weather (20/10) - As I said above, it's the best song that I have heard in the last 5 years. It's perfectly written, produced, sung. Everything about this song is perfect. It's haunting, uplifting, full of imagery and essence. Absolute perfection. This song should be #1 for WEEKS.
9. Settle Me Down (9/10) - Another great "toes" like summer/beach song. Fun, funky, reggae like. This band is not afraid to try different sounds.

10. As She's Walking Away - (9/10) This song features Alan Jackson and is the first single off the album. Great harmonizing, nice gospel feel to it. Great song, but not the best on the album.

11. Keep Me in Mind (10/10) - Just a jazzy/bluesy/reggae feel good love song. Can't stop listening to it. One of the album's best. It's unlike other ZBB songs.
12. Who Knows (10/10) - The ZBB loves to jam out in concert, much like DMB, and this is their foray into a jam sesh on a studio album. 10 minutes long. It's freaking amazing, and you can tell the band LOVES playing this song. I feel like I would hear this song somewhere on Beale Street in Memphis from a band that simply loves playing music and exciting a crowd. This song does that for sure!
13. Martin (11/10) - WOW! I play guitar (as best I can haha). I've have my depressing moments in life, and there's this feeling when times are their worst that your guitar is the only thing that has your back. I've written songs, poetry, and even tried to write my own song about my guitar that I thought was good, but this song blows it away. When he says "He is a good friend, And he has his own voice. And you get what you give; Sometimes it's just noise. But if you treat him well, He will last your life long. And if you're honest and open Well, he will write you a song." Beauty and perfection
14. Make This Day (9/10)- This is my least favorite song on the album, but I understand why it might not be for others. Very upbeat. It's a catchy tune, but it just can't compare to the rest of this album.

(More customer reviews)After Bob Marleys recent split from the oringinal 3 Wailers, Bob had to come up with some way to get him back on track.
So by joining together his wife Rita Marley and Marcia Griffiths and Judy Mowatt known as the I-Threes and an American Guitarist Al Anderson he made his new Wailers with Familyman and Carly Barret still on Bass/Percussion. The band was now named,
"Bob Marley & The Wailers."
And about 10 months later they produced Natty Dread releasing October 25th 1974.
The album was not a huge succes unlike it is today, as the likes of Queen releasing Bohiem Rhapsody and Abba firmly in the charts, did not give Bob Marley a decent chance.
Natty Dread however was still a solid albym.
The album kicks off with the groovy Lively Up Yourself, Bobs humour brings the song alive, along with Familymans amazing bass playing. 10/10
The second song No Woman No Cry is a studio version of the legendary live version, nethertheless the song still is a very decent effort. 9/10
Third brings the inspiring Them Belly Full(But We Hungry) it is a rebel on how the rich greedly flash there money while the poor poeple are shunted to one side and left there to starve. 9/10
Forth brings Rebel Music(3 O'clock Road Block) this is a very well produced song with a strong reggae feel. Bobs talking about his ambush in London. 8/10
Fifth brings So Jah Seh, which was one of the singles, a very underated song, written by Rita Marley and Willy Francisco. 10/10
Sixth brings Natty Dread a brilliant song, a catchy beat, talking about life in Trench Town. One of the many highlights of the album. 10/10
Track numer seven brings Bend Down Low originally produced 1968 with Lee "Scratch" Perry, it is a very well thought of love song. 9/10
Number eight sees Talkin' Blues an absoulute gem, its very nice to see Blue's with Reggae said Chris Blackwell. Another highlight of the album. 10/10
Track nine Revoulution is probably the albums best, and is the most hard hitting song. Another excellent song written by Bob. 10/10
And finaly number tens Am-A-Do is a rare Bob song which originally appeared on the Talkin' Blues album. I must admit the song is addictively catchy, and sometimes you may find yourself humming the tune. A great way to end the album. 9/10
All in all Natty Dread is a collection of classic songs its a pity that some of these songs arent as well known as they should be, and i cannot believe none made Legend.
Feel free to buy any over Bob Marley albums as they are equally as good as this one.

Hello I Must Be Going Review

(More customer reviews)In my review for ...But Seriously, I implied that his 1989 chart-topper was the only essential Collins album. I was wrong. "Hello, I must be going!" is a great collection of songs, and one in the eye for anyone who thinks all PC songs sound alike. The variety here of moods, tempos and ideas is striking. I've never done this before on an amazon review, but here is a track by track analysis:
"I Don't Care Anymore": Listen to this one in the car on the way home from work--it will make you feel much better. Make sure to scream along with Phil. A hard rocker, rather In the Air Tonight-ish with its drums...still heard occasionally on classic rock stations.
"I Cannot Believe it's True": As a whole, HIMBG is less funky than Face Value, but PC brings the funk on this song. Great performance by the Phenix Horns. Good song, but my least favorite on the album (that should tell you something about the album!)
"Like China": Can Phil rock? This is one of PC's only songs with a straightforward guitar riff rock beat...and also, a good hook and great lyrics from Phil--tells a story of a young cockney lad (Phil) who promises to hold his young inexperienced girlfriend "like china."
"Do You Know Do You Care": Phil is phenomenal when he's pissed off (see In the Air Tonight, Domino, and track one of this same album!)...this is a slow and powerful song filled with rage at Phil's ex-wife (let us all prey to have better luck with marriage than Phil). Great when you're in the mood to let off some steam.
"You Can't Hurry Love": Okay, I don't have to fill you in on this one cos you all know it. A great pop song and ode to Motown.
"It Doesn't Matter to Me": Another good pop song from Phil with a nice hook and appealing horns, but all together one of the less special songs on the album. A very happy song, considering the title and the subject matter.
"Thru These Walls": PC used to introduce this song with, "This is for all you perverts out there," or something to that effect. A slow drum machine rhythm sets the tone for this one, which has Phil enjoying listening to a couple make love through the walls (presumably his ex-wife and her lover). An interesting song.
"Don't let him steal your heart away": When Phil brings the funk, he's good. When he's pissed off, he's even better...but he's at his best with plaintive, deeply personal compositions where we all feel the same emotions he's feeling. This song is a perfect example of the latter.
"The West Side": The funk is back! A driving and powerful musical piece, much better than its Face Value companion piece, "Hand in Hand."
"Why Can't it Wait Till Morning": Another one of those plaintive, deeply personal compositions...a great one to just close your eyes and listen to, it ends the album on a positive yet solemn note.
HIMBG is an absolutely essential album for anyone who likes Phil Collins' music, and is a Godsend for those of us who have come to appreciate the magic of his voice and his works.
