(More customer reviews)I spent some time reading the reviews here while waiting for my DVD to arrive. I was a little apprehensive after reading things like "arrogant", "condescending", "mean-spirited", expecting to see him being a real jerk. It was the complete opposite. David makes fun of people. THAT'S WHAT HE DOES.
To me, he comes across as being a calm, affable, even gentle person who is also raw and raunchy, with a take no prisoners attitude while telling stories/jokes.
While I saw some bits(that I don't remember being on the "Shutup You F****** Baby!" CD) that were funny, this DVD should NOT be your introduction to David Cross. Get his stand-up CDs first to get a feel for him, especially "It's Not Funny"...David Cross at his absolute funniest.

Rush - Rush in Rio (2003) Review

(More customer reviews)I originally gave this three stars but after listening to the entire concert I raised it to four. There are definitely some sound problems early on but they were pretty much resolved by about 25 minutes into this 2 hour and 50 minute concert. It was apparant there was no sound check and the sound engineers had to make adjustments as the band played on. They were successful however and for the most part the sound is fairly good. Rush puts on a tremendous show playing songs from throughout their career. I would recommend this for all Rush fans as well as anyone wanting to see a great band.

Chris Rock - Bigger and Blacker (1999) Review

(More customer reviews)Chris Rock follows up his 1996 hit "Bring the Pain" with another hilarious 1-hr routine. As always, Chris serves up his brutally honest opinions on the social and political nightmares we live in today. In this performance you'll find him tackling school gun violence, the plight of Native Americans, Ricky Martin, delinquent parents, racism, police brutality, incurable diseases, taxes, and a host of other issues. What makes Chris Rock so hilarious is that his commentary not only rings true but hits upon feelings and thoughts most of us have but are often afraid to express in today's "politically correct" atmosphere. Plus, Chris' naturally funny-looking physical appearance adds color to his performance. As with many other comedians, Chris Rock ends up spending a great deal of time on cliche comedian fodder such as sex and man-woman relationships. Thankfully, Chris Rock has managed to avoid tired old jokes and put hilarious new spins on these topics.
If you want intelligent comedy, this is the video for you! However, be forewarned that Chris Rock has a penchant for using the "f" word when emphasizing points, which some may find annoying after a while, and he is bound to say something that may offend someone. Nonetheless, I think that's what makes Chris Rock great and universal. Although Chris caters to an African-American audience, he ultimately has ideas that speaks to all segments of society- conservatives, liberals, white/black/asian/latino, homosexual, religious, non-religious, etc. A view that one segment of society finds appealing is bound to be held in disdain by another.
I must admit, in the past year that I've become a Chris Rock fan, I've found it difficult to watch other comedians. Few are as hard-hitting as Chris Rock. Get this video to see what I mean! While you are at it, get "Bring the Pain"- this one packs even more punch than "Bigger and Blacker".

(More customer reviews)I can't recommend Merl Saunders or this live album enough for those who enjoy the fusion of funk, rock, and progressive coming through the piano, synthesizers, Hammond organ, and electric guitars. Merl, Melvin, and crew play extended jams longer than 10 minutes on Strugglin' Man, It's In the Air, Dark Star, Finders Keepers, Fire on the Mountain, and 19 minutes on Merl's Tune. And Melvin takes us to church with a killing Hammond B-3 on Whiter Shade of Pale. Total time for the two discs is 2 hours 11 minutes (2:11:02).

(More customer reviews)i saw them live in l.a. at the exciter tour, and they sounded excellent. the dave that sang in paris in this video stinks. the only highlight is when martin gore sings and on the 2nd cd. martin gore does an accoustic version of sister of night. i honestly would recommend you getting the DM Devotional DVD. dave and the gang all sing great there..
