«CASABLANCA YEARS» is the right CD to buy if you're after the original tracks, featured in their proper & original length. Note that this album includes the short versions of the classics «Take Me Home», "Wasn't It Good", "Happy Was The Day We Met" & "Say The Word".
The first two tracks really don't belong on this album «Bang Bang (My Baby Shot Me Down) & «You Better Sit Down Kids».

Believe Review

I bought this CD in December of 1998 after a friend of mine heard it in Europe. I could not stop listening to it--especially the single "Believe." It's been over a year now and "Believe" is still my favorite song. There are many people using the synthesizer on their voices now because of the huge success that Cher had, however, none are as good as what Cher gave us. To all of those who say she is too old or that all the songs are similar I say "get a grip." What does age have to do with whether the music is good? And as for the second comment about everything being the same, I say "it's a dance album stupid." Stop pretending that you're too cool to like Cher and just admit that the songs "Believe," "Strong Enough" and "All or Nothing" are songs that no one can resist dancing to or singing with. Cher will always be around because she keeps re-inventing herself and puts out quality material like "Believe."

CHER:LIVE IN LAS VEGAS 1999. Finally Cher at her absolute best. If you are not a Cher fan and want to know why this woman has had a career that has spanned four decades--buy this video tape and it will all be clear to you. Over the years this author has seen cher in concert over ten times--her 1999 concert is her absolute best musical outing. It's all here--film clips, TV show clips, video clips and just about all of the songs. There's "Halfbreed" "Dark Lady" and "Gypsies Tramps & Thieves"--tunes Cher has refused to sing until this year! Theres all the 80's power rock stuff "If I Could Turn Back Time" "I Found Someone" and "We ALL Sleep Alone." Theres DISCO CHER "Take Me Home," COUNTRY CHER "Just Like Jesse James" "Walkin' In Memphis." There's BALLAD CHER "The Way Of Love" "After All," KITSCH CHER "It's In His Kiss," and MILLENIUM CHER "Believe" "All Or Nothing" and "Strong Enough" The only thing missing from this comprehensive career overview is the singer's two 1960's hits "I Got You Babe" and "The Beat Goes On"--but you get to hear those while the video clips are playing! At 52, this woman looks and sounds wonderful--an inspiration to one and all.

As a performer who puts her heart and soul into every show, Cher is never more riveting than when she's playing Las Vegas. This 1992 show at The Mirage Hotel captures the diva at her very best as she struts her stuff on the sold-out "Heart of Stone" tour. The concert features performances of 13 songs, including the hits "I'm No Angel," "We All Sleep Alone," "I Found Someone" and "If I Could Turn Back Time." Performances also include classic rock hits like Bob Seger's "Fire Down Below" and the Eagles' ''Take It to the Limit.'' The glamour of Cher onstage in the glitz and excitement of Vegas make "Extravaganza" truly live up to its name!Tracklisting: 1. Opening/After All 2. I’m No Angel 3. We All Sleep Alone 4. Bang Bang 5. The Very Best of Cher - The Video Hits Collection Review

The Very Best of Cher - The Video Hits Collection

I was thrilled when I knew that a Cher video collection was coming out but I have to be honest that I was a little bit dissapointed because this production could've been much better. Some video hits are missing like her 70's #1 hit "DARK LADY" which had a funny video but instead of that track you can find "HALF-BREED" which has a boring video that just shows Cher seating on a horse, then "ALL OR NOTHING" that was another hit doesn't appear and you can find "MAIN MAN" which wasn't a hit. I also think that it could have at least special features as lyrics, photo gallery or Cher commenting about the videos (that would've been great).
But well not everything is bad here because you can enjoy several great videos such as "IF I COULD TURN BACK TIME", "I FOUND SOMEONE", "WE ALL SLEEP ALONE", "BELIEVE", "SAVE UP ALL YOUR TEARS" and "LOVE CAN BUILD A BRIDGE" (featuring Chrissie Hynde, Neneh Cherry and Eric clapton).

Very Best of Cher (Dlx) Review

Very Best of Cher (Dlx)

Cher's recorded for a lot of labels over the years. This is the first set to include recordings from all of them. Her 60s Sonny & Cher ATCO phase is represented by I Got You Babe and The Beat Goes On (I would have liked to have seen Baby Don't Go included here too). Her 60s solo hits on Liberty, Bang Bang and All I Really Want To Do are here (omitting the hits Alfie and You Better Sit Down Kids is no big whoop).
In the 70s, Cher recorded for Kapp/MCA. Her trilogy of trash (Gypsies Tramps & Thieves, Half-Breed, and Dark Lady) are here, but not the top 10 Way Of Love (where Cher sounds like a man) or her hits with Sonny (All I Ever Need Is You, A Cowboy's Work Is Never Done). Her lone Casablanca hit from the 70s, the disco fave Take Me Home, is here, hinting at Cher's future as a dance diva.
In the 80s, Cher made a major comeback on Geffen Records singing power ballads like Heart Of Stone, I Found Someone, Just Like Jesse James, and If I Could Turn Back Time and the wedding fave After All with Peter Cetera. The one major recording left off from this era is my theme song: We All Sleep Alone.
Major comeback number two, with Cher as the ultimate dance diva on Warner Brothers, is well-represented by her hits Believe, Strong Enough, Song For The Lonely, and Different Kind Of Love Song (the latter improved in a faster-paced mix).
Even if you have Cher's strong collection If I Could Turn Back Time, you should get this for the added Warner Brothers dance hits and 60s Liberty singles, plus The Beat Goes On. It would take two discs to get all of Cher's hits collected and until someone does, this Rhino set is clearly the best sampler

Cher - The Farewell Tour (2003) Review

Cher - The Farewell Tour (2003)

Cher has been singing for over 40 years and she did it very good and I think that she'll continue doing it. So in 2002 she decided to start what it was going to be her Farewell Tour.
This show is similar as her 2000 Believe Tour but with more production and quality (with this I'm not saying that it was bad, it was very good actually but this is way much better).
On this show you can see Cher performing all her hits plus others that were on the program but weren't added to the final cut of the concert that was recorded in the American Airlines Arena in Miami Beach. As every Cher show you'll see lots of costumes changing, specail effects, lots of dancers and all Cher's Extravaganza. She has been very clever doing it now that she can do it very good without showing weakness of any kind.
Some of the songs here are her #1's "Gypsies, tramps and thieves", "Dark lady", "Half-breed" and "Believe" plus her other hits like "If I could turn back time", "Just like Jesse James", "I found someone" and "Song for the lonely".
She covered once again as the opening number U2's "I still haven't found what I'm looking for" (which honestly sounds better on her).
And finally among the special features you'll find the new "If I could turn back time" video, 3 extra live songs, Cher's special version of West Side Story (not big deal) and behind the scenes.
Very good Cher you did it again.

Live: Farewell Tour (Mcup) Review

Cher is amazing her music has been successful for 40 years and now she wants to concentrate her career in movies. So for that reason she has made her last tour (which is her biggest and more successful)and because of that we have now her very first live cd.
This cd was recorded in Miami (is the same show of the DVD concert). The show starts with the U2's "I still haven't found what I'm looking for" (Cher's version is better)and it's followed by the 2002 hit "Song for the lonely" and then comes the 1999 hit "All or nothing" and it keeps rolling with several classic hits.
This cd is not only special becuase it's gonna be the last live one. It's also special because it contains each fraction of Cher's music sience her first solo hit "All I really wanna do" and her 70's #1 hits "Gypsies, tramps and thieves", "Dark lady" and "Half breed". There's also the 1978 Top 10 hit "Take me home".
From the 80's it has the Top 10 singles "I found someone", "Just like Jesse James" and "After all" next to Peter Cetera.
And of course her 2 biggest hits "Belive" and "If I could turn back time".
This cd is very special, if you like music and like to collect cds, this is a must have.
"The farewell tour" cd has debuted in the Billboard's Hot 200 at #40.
I'd also recommed the DVD from this cd. It's very good and has an amazing production.
