(More customer reviews)I won't go into the over the top review like some younger fans might do (which is plenty alright with me) but being closer to Neil Schon's age then Chris Daughtry's age it wouldn't come out right :)
I've been waiting for way to long for Journey to come out with an effort worthy of me sitting down and writing this review. Generations was ok, Arrival was nice but Revelation brings me back to when I was 18, in love with my high school sweetheart and attending every when Journey show played in my area. I go way back to pre-Steve Perry days. It has never been cool, maybe until now, to be a Journey fan. Back in my day you had to be a metal fan or you were a loser. The thing that always drew me to Journey was the phenomenal abilities of all of their musicians and the voice. The strong melodies, the rockers and the ballads. Really the whole package. A Journey album to me was always like reading a #1 Best Selling Novel. You just can't put it down or turn it off.
I say the voice because it is as much an instrument as the rest. Journey would not be Journey without a classic tenor at the helm. For me the 'voice' was always Steve Perry, he is simply the best voice I've ever heard in Rock and Roll.
With that being said, Arnel Pineda has taken the stage with the other members of our supergroup and simply amazed me. Neil describes him as a soulful singer. I really think that is the best description of him. Thank you Arnel for bring back 'the voice'!
If you're a Journey fan at all, you know what I mean when I say, you put the CD in the player, sit back and smile. When Journey puts out a new CD all is right in my world. This one is so highly recommended by me that there isnt' a number high enough to give it. Just buy it and you'll see what I mean.

Two CD/DVD. 2008 brings the album Revelation from Journey. Neal Schon (guitar), Jonathan Cain (keyboards), Ross Valory (bass), Deen Castronovo (drums)--are proud to introduce fans all over the world to their new lead singer, Arnel Pineda ('pin-eh-da'). He replaces Jeff Scott Soto, who parted ways with the band earlier this year after stepping in for Steve Augeri, who had to leave the band in 2006 for medical reasons.

Three Lock Box Review

(More customer reviews)Sammy's career is legendary and Three Lock Box rightfully fits into Hagar's history like a glove. The hits are here (Your Love is Driving Me Crazy & the title track to name a few) but what really puts this album on top are the early hints of Hagar's serious side which become more apparent in his later work. Songs like "Remember the Heroes" and "Growing Up" speak for themselves. This CD has been somewhat overlooked lately, but it really is an excellent piece of music. If you are a fan of Sammy Hagar, it is a must. If you are not, be advised, this will likely change your mind!

Domino Effect Review

(More customer reviews)I've only recently got into Gotthard, after seeing them play live at Firefest in the UK 2006.
Domino Effect is the third album of theirs I have purchased, and once listened, couldn't belive that Domino Effect was better than Lip Service. WOW
Domino Effect has songs that will appeal to anyone, and doesn't allow you to get bored with it when you keep on hitting the replay button.
This album is a must for any Gotthard fans, plus anyone out there, that wants to try something different and doesn't want to be disappointed.
Well recommended. (PS if you get chance to go and see them on their Domino Effect Tour - Do so - ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC :-)

Momentary Lapse of Reason Review

(More customer reviews)Pink Floyd's triumphant comeback (their 13th studio album) entitled A Momentary Lapse of Reason was released in September of 1987.
The album was the first without original member bass player/singer/lyricist Roger Waters whom acrimoniously split from his bandmates in 1985.
For years, many thought that 1983's aptly named The Final Cut was the farewell album of Pink Floyd's but singer/songwriter/guitarist David Gilmour, drummer Nick Mason (although he plays on half of the disc because his playing was underestimated by Waters and wasn't until the Momentary Lapse tour where he played better again) and the late great keyboard player Rick Wright (as a salaried musician nonetheless) along with co-producer Bob Ezrin and session bass player Tony Levin spent eight months recording the album at David's houseboat studio the Astoria in London and at various studios in London and L.A. (where they relocated after Roger's lawyers threatened legal action) with many people doubting the Floyd being relevant without Waters.
However, when I (as an 11 year old boy in 1987) first heard the first single "Learning to Fly", I was in reassured that Floyd was back in a big way. When my father brought home the album for me shortly after its release, I was amazed on how superb this album was.
It was in fact David Gilmour whom sang most of the classics from 1969 to 1975 before Waters went on his ego trip for the next three discs (no disrespect to those last three albums (the underrated Animals, the epic The Wall and the somewhat bleak The Final Cut), I like all of Floyd's work and am an unbiased die-hard fan). The songwriting burden nestled now on David's shoulders (he wrote all of the music and gave credit to those who came up with small ideas but he isn't confident in writing lyrics hence other people help with the lyrics).
The instrumental opening "Signs of Life" dated back to a riff that first emerged in the Animals era and a great instrumental. The aforementioned "Learning to Fly" follows and was a great song. The ominous "The Dogs of War" is next and featured one of David's best guitar solos and Carmine Appice was on drums on this track. We then segue into "One Slip" which is another great song and was co-written by Gilmour with Roxy Music guitarist Phil Manzanera and is where the album got its title. The poverty and injustice anthem "On the Turning Away" is one of Floyd's best songs and was another rock radio smash upon release.
"Yet Another Movie" and "Round and Around" kicked off the album's second half and reminded me musically of Wish You Were Here era Floyd and is killer. The "A New Machine (pt.1)"/"Terminal Frost"/"A New Machine (pt.2)" medley though they are separate tracks are spellbinding. The best track on the album was the closing "Sorrow" which goes back to the old epics of the past clocking in at close to 9 minutes.
The Momentary Lapse album was well received when release as it hit #3 on the album charts in the US and #1 on the CD charts here in the US. Also, the album sold over 5 million in the US alone to date and proved that the Floyd could survive without Waters. Also, the band embarked on a tour that would go on for three years and be documented on the album/video Delicate Sound of Thunder.
In 1997, the album was re-mastered and re-released. Then it was re-released again in October of 2005 with a new remaster thanks to James Guthrie and Joel Plante who remastered this album and it sounds better than either the 1987 or 1997 CD issues. Now in 2009, Capitol Records acquire the licensing rights to this album and just re-released the CD with its 1997 remaster and booklet.

H.E.A.T (Tour Edition 2 CD) Review

(More customer reviews)"H.e.a.t" is a new hard rock/AOR band from Sweden very much in the style of "Europe"," Aldo Nova" and "Treat". The Group has already made its presence well felt in Europe endorsing probably the youngest members of the Hard Rock/Glam metal scene.
The band comprises of Kenny Leckremo (V), Dave Dalone (G), Eric Rivers (G), Jona Tee (K), Jimmy Jay (B), and Crash (D). Apart from being technically proficient and overall tight a band, "H.e.a.t" separate themselves from the stereotype "new kids on the block" simply because of their ability to compose and perform such incredibly rocking tunes that would rival even the most experienced and confident veterans on the glam scene (for example their fellow Swedes "The Poodles".)
Continuing on this note quite a few of the songs on this release, their debut, have that classic quality, delivering the impression that you've heard the tune somewhere before; a quality that is incredibly hard to come by and even least expected from a band in their early 20s. The songs in question are "Straight from your hart", "Feel it again" and the mid tempo "Cry". All three tremendously rocking songs with undeniable radio quality.
Apart from the highlights the rest of the album is pretty good yet quite overshadowed by these three potential hits. Still if H.e.a.t can perform as consistently on their debut, expectations on their follow up deserve to be huge.
You simply can't escape singing along the choruses on this one.
