(More customer reviews)This dvd is chopped up by interrupting several of the performances. This behind the scenes footage is ok between songs, but literally intrudes into some of the songs. Would have
been much better if the performances were uninterrupted, and you could access directly to the start of each song. The behind
the scenes stuff is ok the first time you watch, but after that you are still forced to watch it. Someone made a big mistake with this idea. If they wanted to include the behind the scenes stuff, it should have been added at the end as "bonus footage".
However, when you get Faith Hill singing, it is great.

(More customer reviews)Songs Of Faith And Devotion could be Depeche Mode's most underrated album to date. A common misconception about SOFAD is that it was a sell-out to the grunge movement of its time. The only song on the album that might pass as being grunge, however, is "I Feel You," and only for its hard edge and raw emotion. The rest of the album has too much depth and complexity, both musically and lyrically, to be classified as a sub-genre of grunge music. Although the album contained some raunchy sounds, it maintained a spiritual aura from start to finish. In a year when bands like Pearl Jam and The Spin Doctors dominated the scene, Depeche Mode held themselves to a higher standard and forged a completely different sound.
Also somewhat of a misconception was that Depeche Mode abandoned their roots on this album. It was a departure in the sense that live drums and more guitars were incorporated into the music, but SOFAD was still part of the band's evolutionary process. Martin Gore had actually started sneaking guitars into the mix on Music For The Masses, with the guitar work becoming more pronounced on Violater. SOFAD became a bigger outlet for this side of the band. Also, the album elaborated on typical Depeche Mode themes. Lyrically speaking, it's arguably Martin Gore's most inspired songwriting.
I consider SOFAD to be my favorite DM album. That's a strong statement coming from someone who loves everything from Speak & Spell onwards. Unfortunately, SOFAD wasn't well received by the general public and many DM fans alike. Martin Gore stated at the time of its release that they wanted to challenge their listeners. It's not the kind of album everyone's supposed to like (DM fans included), but most people weren't up to the challenge.

Passion Talk Series: The Twelve Words Of Christmas (2010) Review

(More customer reviews)Louie Giglio is a revolution in Biblical presentation. Sound Bible teaching, but such a fresh and hear-able form of delivery, makes this dynamic speaker worth listening to. He presents the same Christ Child story, first from the Bible's own words, "the Gospel unchanged," and then enlarges and expounds on it in the earthy, human, common language way that only Louie Giglio can present. He shares the difference that has been made for man in "The 12 Words of Christmas", not the 12 days. He states about the nativity day and location: "Nothing perfect about that night except the baby came." And then explains why.
The taping was done at Atlanta, in conjunction with a Chris Tomlin Christmas concert. I believe it was early in the tour for "Glory in the Highest: Christmas Songs of Worship", a CD released last year. The tour is continuing now, Christmas, 2010. The DVD runs almost an hour, an all region release, and has a background pianist playing, a shadow in the darker background and uncredited, which I suspect is the music of Tomlin. It adds to the dynamics of Giglio's sharing of "The Twelve Words of Christmas."
A great companion to Chris Tomlin's Christmas music CD, but it must be bought separately. This DVD has bonus material: About Louie Giglio; About Passion; More Info on the Passion Talk Series; and a booklet containing discussion questions.
This would be a great DVD to play for upper elementary students through senior worshipers at a church, followed by some of the discussion questions, or small group possibilities. And of course Christmas candy/cookies and assorted soft drinks. THE Christmas message, presented as fresh as it can be done, drawing emotion from the viewer, as well as hope for those needing inspiration. If your wondering what Christmas is all about, it's here in a DVD nutshell. A great stocking stuffer for a youth minister. Or family and friends who really need to hear the story of what the holiday is about. Or the worshiper who desires a fresh reading about the holy family's beginning.
Also, for an amazing presentation on the universe and God's creation, take a look at Louie Giglio in his DVD called "Indescribable". It is indescribable, you just have to see it to believe it.

The album 'Faith' was a worldwide instant success/smash, selling over 20 million copies & spawning 5 number one chart hits. The album also went to win a Grammy for album of the year. This 'Faith Special Edition' release has 2 CDs, 1 DVD & 40 page hardbound book with exclusive interview as well as rare photos. Disc 1 has 'Faith' album 10 tracks (2010 remastered versions). The production/sound quality is great as compared to that of my original Vinyl LP/Album I bought in 1987. With the hits "Faith", "Father Figure", "I Want Your Sex" (this song reached number one with minimal airplay/videoplay as the song was banned!), "One More Try" & "Kissing A Fool", one can't go wrong. Disc 2 (9 tracks, 2010 remastered versions) has great instrumentals ("Faith" & "Kissing A Fool"), great & rare remixes ("Hard Day", Shep Pettibone Remix, "Monkey", Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis Remix), rare versions ("Monkey", great Maxi single, "Monkey", amazing alla cappella version & "Love's In Need Of Love Today, great live performance) & B-sides "Fantasy" & "I Believe(When I Fall In Love It Will Be Forever"). (More customer reviews)Hi I first saw one or part of one of Louie's DVD/CDs online on YouTube my sister sent me the link or told me about it. It really blew me away I was so WoWed by his Talks I have now seen all 4 and own them several times over because I have given away several of them and purchased like 20 or more for other people at Church and Campmeeting last year 2008 my personal favorite is How Great is our God! I wish everone could see this and just realize how Big our God is and how really Small we reall are. The Lord God wants us to know him and to really get to know him you have to have an experence of True Genuine Salvation. Louie tries to wow you to get you to look beyond your little problems and see that there is a God outthere that although he's bigger that anyone can even imagine yet he's small enough to live inside your heart. To have a Passion for Christ you must see his passion to realize how much God loves you he sent his only begotten Son Jesus to die on a cruel Cross the Cross of Calvary to purchase our redemption so you and I could really be Free So if the Son therefore shall make you FREE you shall be Free indeed! Not free to do what ever you want to do but to be free to live for God and give him the Glory honor the praise that he alone diserves he is worthy. Worthy is the lamb that was slain! Worthy is our God of all our praise! Thank you Jesus
