(More customer reviews)I love seeing Barenaked Ladies live. Unfortunately, they have the nerve to not tour constantly in my general vicinity, so I can't see their shows all the time. But with the DVD, suddenly this becomes possible.
It's unfortunate that they cut a lot out of the show -- no adlibbed songs, very little banter, some great songs missing -- but what's left is still one great show.
If you've ever seen BNL live, this DVD will remind you what a great experience it is. If you haven't, it might make you start kicking yourself -- hopefully all the way to the next Barenaked Ladies show.

This special edition contains the full concert on both CD and DVD, and features classics such as "One Week," "Pinch Me" and "If I Had $1000000," as well as hits from the recent releases Barenaked Ladies Are Me and Barenaked Ladies Are Men. (More customer reviews)This is a stunning album which, in different ways on this page, has already been pretty well documented. It is wonderful, promising, and somewhat ironic that a number of the best recordings of recent date have been made by young musicians and composers, both women and men -in addition to Stevens, Laura Veirs, Vetiver, Devendra Barnhart ... the list could go on!- mostly in their own bedrooms, on a shoe-string budget and not having to count, in most cases, on big name producers nor virtuoso session players.
What can you expect from this album? Some of the most beautiful, open-hearted and downright honest music being made today.
You, like me no doubt, will soon acknowledge favorites among these songs, yet because it is meant to be a suite about the, at times beleaguered, state of Michigan, it ought to be appreciated as a whole as it was intended by Sufjan Stevens; and, because I would not want to taint your listening experience with my preferences.
If you can afford it, buy it -and buy it new- so this guy gets some money for this gift of an album. If you must borrow music, try Sting or Madonna ... I'm sure they can manage on their savings.

Stranger in Town Review

(More customer reviews)Stranger In Town is one of Bob Seger's all time best studio albums. But anyone will tell you that, and the proof is in the music: superb songs like "Hollywood Nights", "Feel Like A Number", and "The Famous Final Scene", as well as the perenially popular "Old Time Rock & Roll".
So how is the remastering? Wasn't the remastering of Live Bullet a disappointment? Yes, but there is a different team in place here. Robert Vosgien has done a superb job on this remastering, and the packaging includes the insert photos that were missing from the original release.
What you get in this release that was missing in the original CD are nuances and inflections - lots of them. Listen to all the things Bob does with the lyrics to "Brave Strangers". Hear the remarkable hi-hat work of Dave Teegarden in "Hollywood Nights." Delight in the resonance of the acoustic guitar strings on "Still The Same."
Yes, there is some tape hiss, but that is a good thing. This is the type of album where removing all the hiss would remove much of the music along with it. Thank goodness that mistake has been avoided here.
What we have is a classic rock album, in all senses of those words, restored to all its magnificent glory. Don't miss it!
