(More customer reviews)I really enjoyed Talib Kweli & Hi-Tek's "Reflection Eternal". This completes the trilogy of Black Star's "Mos Def And Talib Kweli Are Black Star", Mos Def's "Black on Both Sides", and "Reflection Eternal". I can only imagine what Black Star's second album will be like when Mos Def and Talib Kweli join again with the production skills of Hi-Tek. This is one of the few Hip Hop albums you can listen from track one to track twenty without fast forwarding, well, let's make the twenty-one because of the enlightening hidden track "For Women". After "Move Somethin" the album only get more poetic and visual. Talib drops lyrical science you have to almost swear he had to earn a Ph.d. to verbally express the knowledge he delievers. Talib cares more about his underground following rather than selling out and trying to be commerical.
This is not an album about the bling, bling, violence, disrespecting women, etc., this is an album enlightening and uplifting the mind while grooving to some hypnotic beats that helps keep the head noddin'. I love how the album relates at some many levels from Black pride and unity, love for women, and keeping the faith while believing in God, and keeping Him foremost at the front of one's life! Always keep God first in everything you do, and everything you need will soon follow!
There's hit after hit on this album, and when Talib's Black Star partner Mos Def joins him on "This Means You" it brings the power of Black Star, and let's not forget "Down For The Count" when Rah Digga and Xzibit help rock the mic. Cool G Rap, Vinia Mojica, Les Nubians and De La Soul also lend their voices to some powerful tracks that enlighten and entertain. If you're a lover of Hip Hop that enlightens, educates and motivates while leaving the head noddin' to those beats, rhymes and rhythms, then check out "Reflection Eternal". It'll cause you to reflect on life, love and yourself!

I have always been a fan of Psychopathic Records and Blaze, ever since I first ICP I was hooked, of course I was bumping Esham before that so it was a natural fit. This was Blaze's first release on Psychopathic; songs were later released on other albums or remixed. The entire album was produced by Fritz the Cat and Twiztid, and Blaze was influenced by West Coast music and it shows in the production.
1.BACK FROM THE DEAD-intro
2.REAL G S***-the first song on the album comes out hard and banging, in fact the beat is some what reminiscent of the production 2pac was using during his last days. Blaze kills this track with some great gangsta influenced lyrics and a nice flow. The only thing is that this song is to short, over all a great opening track.4.5/5
3.IN CASE U FORGOT-I love the beat to this song man, Fritz and Twiztid really came threw with this one. The beat kinda reminds me of some stuff Eazy E would have got down on. Blaze of course really shines over this style of a production with his aggressive flow and gangsta inspired lyrics which was a new style to Psychopathic. Also Jamie Madrox is on the hook of this song and kills it.5/5
4.I GO TO WORK-another west coast influenced instrumental right here which is perfect for Blaze since it seemed to fit his style. Blaze really shines once again on this track as his flow really fits the pacing on the track and his lyrics go hard. The beat once again sounds like some early Ruthless/Eazy E stuff or maybe something Lil ½ Dead would have got down on.5/5
5.PUT IT DOWN-this track right here is fire without a doubt man, it sounds like some of that hardcore early Cypress Hill music. This seems to be the song that a lot of people seem to say is the weak link of the album, I have to disagree. The beat for this song is great and Blaze holds it down with a nice flow, I think the only thing that brings the song down a little is the hook. It is a good hook and really fits the song but it just doesn't work for some reason.4.5/5
6.S***TALKAZ-this is usually everybody's favorite song since it features ICP and Twiztid, and I guess rightfully so since it is the best song on the album. The beat for this song is off the chains and kinda reminds me of the feeling of Twiztid's "We Don't Die" song. Twiztid and Blaze diss Mysery on this track while ICP diss Emenem so naturally controversy will sell. Monoxide kicks it off with a vicious flow and verse, I mean really I have not ever heard him spit like this. Blaze hits it second and does his thing on this track but Madrox is up next and he steals the show. Madrox destroys this track man he has a vicious flow, but Monoxide did his thing to. Shaggy 2 Dope is up next with a nice verse getting at Em, and then Violent J wraps up things with a nice verse. This is probably the best track on the album.5/5
This was a really great introduction to Blaze and his style, recommended to any fans of Psychopathic/Horrorcore/Gangsta rap.

MM..Food? (CD & DVD) Review

(More customer reviews)Even though MM..Food was a re-release, it's still the undisputed greatest album of 2007. What'd you say? What about Kanye's Graduation? Here you have two rapper/producers who's technique is somewhat similar, so naturally I gotta give it up to the more raw of the two, and that my friend is MM..Food (change the letters around, it spells MF..DOOM, lol)
DOOM maintains the same comic book themed skits and comes with samples the average listener has probably never thought of making a beat made out of. Looped the intro of Anita Baker's 'Sweet Love' with a human beatbox behind it and of course another loop from my favorite Sade track 'Is It a Crime'. See if you can indentify the rest cuz he really dug through his LP's for this one. Not to mention he's @ his lyrical peak on every track and rarely falls short with the wordplay.
Yall might think I'm big'n up this album too much, nope, it's that good. Especially after being drowned in fraud mainstream dopeboys who throw tracks together just for a damn paycheck. This is about as potent as raw hip hop can get. MM..Food For Thought, make yourself a plate.

The film combines footage of Hov's farewell Madison Square Garden concert along with scenes involving the completion of the Black Album. The concert was surprisingly well-performed and energized by several guest stars that pay Jay respectful homage by their sheer presence, as well as lighting up the stage with their vocal collaborations. When Beyonce` pops-up to perform three songs, Jigga's facial affections are an unrehearsed mix of love, appreciation, and admiration. Things only get better when Ghostface joins Beyonce` to perform "Summertime". Behind-the-scene footage depicting the guests as they prepare to take stage enhances each duet, as well as amplifying the significance of their unique talents. The movie does a great job in capturing the emotions of the loving crowd who hang on Jay's every verse. As for the star himself, he performs in a manner exceeding his personal hype. Despite the "me-me-me" subject matter of the majority of his songs, he proves to be an impeccable lyricist and stage performer. He is clearly aware that a song is nothing without the accompanying image. Interestingly, the superstar image is basically shed as the movie presents a few studio sessions depicting Jay as he completes the Black Album. Instead of the rap icon in front of his admiring 20,000 audience, the viewer is presented with a calculating and introspective genius working within the rather crude elements of his craft. Watching Jay as he deciphers beats and formulates his lyrics is worth the price of the DVD alone.
