(More customer reviews)Don't think about buying Mariah Carey: Around the world "JUST DO IT"! This dvd is so beautifully arranged. It has all live performances of Mariahs biggest hits taken from all over the globe. Get down to such hits as "Honey", "Dreamlover" and "Fantasy" then cool down a little with magnificent ballads as "Whenever you call", "I still believe" and "I'll be there" also you can't go past "Hopelessly devoted to you" with special guest Olivia Newton-John. This dvd also contains a complete discography, biography, 3 languages (english, french and spanish), lyrics and 4 videos: "My all", "Butterfly", "Breakdown" and "The roof". As the first dvd I have ever brought, I recommend it to any massive mariah fan cause "It's all that and more". Good quality and quantity.

Love & Life Review

(More customer reviews)In the times when being a diva becomes more or less a caricature, Mary J. Blige proves with her 2003 album "Love & Life" that she is still up there at the top of contemporary r&b. On this, not less than a sixth regular album since the 1992 breakthrough debut "What's The 411", the songstress teams up again with Sean (P.Diddy) Combs, with who she collaborated on the 1994 release "My Life", still considered by many to be her best.
Times have changed but she still sounds fresh and groovy. "Love & Life" does not include such killer singles as the previous album's title track "No More Drama" or the stellar Dr. Dre-produced "Family Affair", but, for that matter, is more consistent. Starts with a unique, movie-like intro in which Mary is getting a call from P.Diddy, before Jay-Z gets his rap job done. Follows the first 'normal' track, "Don't Go", which pretty representatively sets the mood for the entire, 70-minute album.
The catchy first single "Love @ First Sight" with Method Man cleverly employs an eloquent bass line, before being replaced in loudspeakers by relaxed, summer-y feel of "Willing & Waiting". Mary's voice is again full of raw emotions, as on "When We" and "Friends", the album again offers great beats (Eve collaboration "Not Today" or "It's A Wrap"). "Ooh!" follows the footsteps of Aretha Franklin, pounding "Press On" is downright glorious, a cream of Blige, as is positively erotic "Feel Like Makin' Love". The record's end simmers down to ballad territory, in which the singer relishes, apparently drawing from her personal life.
With "Love & Life", Mary J. Blige easily outshined the other, currently more successfuly sold R&B female artists, who may produce great singles (Beyonce, Ashanti) but only uneven albums. Blige remains the real premiere urban diva of her generation and this recording will go down as one of her very best.

(More customer reviews)This DVD is a waste of time, I am glad I only rented it and didn't buy it. It has no performances of Mariah Carey. There is one interview done by a foreign interviewer who can barely speak English. The interview is in black and white and is placed inside an animated screen about 1/3 of your TV Screen. The rest is close up shots of some English people giving their opinions about Mariah's career. The little time they actually show Mariah is the same shot over and over, I don't think they had any permission to use actual photos or video of Mariah. Don't waste your time out of the whole DVD maybe 10 min, outside of the interview, do you actually see any image of Mariah Carey. If you like to look at a bunch of people telling you everything you already know about Mariah Carey then good luck, otherwise steer clear!

8701 Review

(More customer reviews)After the multi plantinum selling, "My Way", other than the Usher "Live" CD, you hadn't heard too much from him. "All About U" was supposed to be released earlier this year, but after "Pop Your Collar" didn't get too many rave reviews and once his CD was leaked on to Napster, Usher and his label decided that the best thing to do was to go back into the studio for a second time. "8701" is probably a better product because of this. Even when Usher came out I knew he had potential. "Can U Get Wit It" and "Think Of You" were always favorites of mine back in the day. "My Way" spawned the hits "U Make Me Wanna", "Nice & Slow" and the title track. "Bedtime" was also a favorite of mine. "8701" really sounds like a "My Way" Part 2, which isn't bad at all. The 1st single "U Remind Me" is more like what people expect from Usher. It is a nice laidback midtempo song produced by Edmund Clement and it is currently #1 on the Billboard charts. "Pop Ya Collar" had nothing on this song at all. Usher has a lot of potential singles on this CD. The Neptunes produced, "I Don't Know" w/P Diddy is a nice collaboration between the two. You know it's a Neptunes beat as soon as the song comes on. Even if you have two left feet like I do, you will be trying to get on the dance floor while this song is on. "U Got It Bad" is definitely reminiscent of "Nice And Slow". The Jermaine Dupri and Bryan-Michael Cox produced slow jam, will have you saying "It's 7'o clock, on the dot, I'm in my drop top..." all over again. Bryan-Michael Cox also produced or collaborated with JD on most of Jagged Edge's slow jams on "Jagged Little Thrill". "U Got It Bad" is well put together and is defintely going to be a hit. However, the best song on "8701" and my current favorite is "Can U Help Me". Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis produced this slow jam and this is the best slow song that I have ever heard from Usher. This has a potential of being a single as well but it depends on how many are released from this CD. Other songs worth checking out are the Jimmy Jam, Terry Lewis & James Wright "How Do I Say", the Neptunes produced "U Don't Have To Call" and the Babyface & Jermaine Dupri produced, "If I Want To" where Usher boasts "If I wanted, I could take you from your man." With Chili from TLC following you everywhere, I guess you can say something like that. Overall, Usher has impressed me with "8701". He is showing his growth as an artist and his fans will be pleased.
