(More customer reviews)The Central Band of the RAF is an outstanding group and this is probably their best CD. The recording sound is better than average and the selections should not, for the most part, be repeats from other symphonic band CDs you may own. The 633 Squadron is an exciting opening. The Dambusters March by Coates is an excellent march. The Ellington selection and The Sheik of Araby are jazz pieces, but are carried off adequately. The Evening Hymn and Sunset has a beautiful lyrical opening and concludes with a Scottish lament on bagpipes. The full breadth of what a British military band can do is displayed in this CD.
