Because of You (Korean Tour Edition) Review

I am a Ne-Yo fan. Though I wouldn't argue that he is the most original artist out there, I will say that his songwriting is what sets him apart from any other R&B artist. With the mind-numbing "music" that is out there today, it's refreshing to remember that a song is not just about a hot beat but the actual lyrics.
With that said this album is overall disappointing. The single "Because of You" is a banger but when I initially heard it, I felt that it was a remix of some of his previous tracks. Jay-Z's rap on "Crazy" is completely gratuitous and does nothing but detract from an already mediocre song. The placement of the tracks is also peculiar as someone else pointed out as some of the best songs are placed in the middle or towards the end. (Note: A solid album doesn't really need to concentrate on placement b/c each track is so outstanding.) On the "Sex with My Ex" he is clearly channeling Prince (his idol) and on "Angel" he sounds like Michael Jackson (his other idol). Despite his blatant unoriginality, I still think the songs are good though I wouldn't arue with someone if they thought they were garbage.
The standout tracks are definitely "Leaving Tonight" with Jennifer Hudson, "Say It" which is my favorite song, and "Go On". Though I must say that "Go On" production sounds far too similar to Beyonce's "Irreplaceable" which we all know Ne-Yo wrote.
Overall, it's worth the $9.99, he'll most likely go platinum many times over, and as another writer mentioned, I hope he really brings it on his third album.

Usually I'm not the kind of person to go buy a concert of an artist. I was on my way from the USA on Lufthansa and saw this video in the in-flight entertainment menu - decided to give it a try - was pleasantly surprised. Bought the DVD as soon as I got back home. Would definately recommend this to ANY Rihanna fan! It's just awesome!!!!

The Pursuit Review

He has a tremendous talent, no one can have doubts about that.
He was catapulted into spotlight after his 2003 debut "Twentysomething" marked him out as the poster child for the new age of Jazz. His second album received a much more muted response - behind the scenes he's been busy toiling away.
According to some critics, he "has released a string of increasingly poppy Jazz-influenced records. The Pursuit is a richer, more rounded creation. It reveals the influences of a man who is as at home making four-to-the-floor club tracks with his brother as knocking out jazz standards" - Rob Potter
In his latest release, "The Pursuit", a new-found confidence is clearly evident and fans will notice a slight veer away from the jazz sound he is famous for as he visits other genres.
The Cole Porter cover version that starts this album ("Just One Of Those Things" - recorded with the Count Basie orchestra at Tony Bennett's studio) may make you think that this jazz talent is in danger of playing it all a bit too predictable, but he soon shakes things up.
Later, the single "If I Ruled The World, a song memorably tackled by Tony Bennett and by the incomparable Regina Belle on her latest album Lazy Afternoon, becomes entirely Cullum's own.
In fact the track sounds sombre and almost funerary, and recalls Portishead, while "Music Is Through" has a house beat and "We Run Things" is just boldly experimental.
Some other tracks to look out for are the beautiful "Love Aint't Gonna Let You Down", and "Mixtape", featuring none other that the dulcet tones of Sophie Dahl as part of the backing vocal.
This album is a must for loyal lovers of Jamie Cullum's music, and for those who want to hear something genuinely surprising and original.
The special edition version of The Pursuit includes a bonus DVD with exclusive live and behind-the-scenes footage.

Deluxe two disc (CD/DVD) edition includes bonus DVD. 2009 album from the multi-talented British Jazz man, vocalist, pianist and songwriter. This album contains tracks spanning across the Pop, Hip Hop and Jazz genres, including the lead single 'I'm All Over It', an outstanding take on Rihanna's 'Don't Stop The Music' and the spectacular ballad 'Love Ain't Gonna Let You Down' as well as many more.Cullum mixes Jazz with melodic Pop and Rock into a crossover style that calls to mind such artists as Harry Connick, Jr., and Norah Jones. In that vein, Cullum will just as often cover a swinging Jazz standard as a modern Rock song, and his original compositions deftly move from earnest ballads to songs of sardonic wit.

Loud Review

This review refers specifically to the exclusive contents of the Couture Edition of "Loud", as I feel there are plenty of reviews available regarding the actual musical content of this release. I will note however, that this release is also unfortunately censored.
If I was asked to describe this package using as few words as possible, I would say "It's a mega-sized deluxe edition digipack!" The entire set is housed in a plastic cover. Nothing too special about this; it simply reads "Rihanna" across the top and "Loud" across the bottom in some kind of raised, glittered letters. You remove the "digipack" from the plastic cover and unfold the compartments. You should recognize the main product image.
In the center compartment you'll find the booklet and lithograph. I wasn't sure what a lithograph was when I ordered this from Rihanna's website. I looked up a definition and still wasn't sure what it was. I received my order and understood somewhat. To say the least, it's a pixelated poster. For a more detailed description, I'd suggest trying to imagine the sandstone landscape around the edge of your pool. Looking closely you can see the tens of thousands of "pieces" making up the cover image. I really don't know how to explain it, except that it looks great on my wall.
The extra large booklet is a nice alternative to the standard 4 incher. (Ha.) It includes almost all of the photographs from the Standard Edition booklet, plus a few extra, and mega-sized. Your view of Rihanna is not obstructed by those pesky song and musician credits (you'll still find them on the last page).
Overall this is a great collectors piece. The booklet is printed on sturdy paper and the entire package has a smooth, glossy finish. This release still includes track 11: "Love The Way You Lie" although at the time of this review Amazon does not list it. I hope this information was useful in helping you understand exactly what you are buying. Most of it might have been obvious information. If that is the case, then I've just confirmed.
