I had the opportunity to see Bauhaus' Resurrection tour when they stopped in DC. The show was spellbinding, hauntingly beautiful, a real spiritual event. This recording really captures their live essence. Standout points are their cover of Dead Can Dance's 'Severance' (I saw in my mind Peter on a stage riser crooning above with his arm outstretched to the ceiling as he did in DC). 'In Fear of Fear' is blistering and the fuzzed intro to 'Double Dare' on the live recording filled me with the same chill I felt at the beginning of the show I saw. The fact that they included a version of 'Spirit' on this is all the more relishing. I believe they only played that song to the real enthusiastic crowds. It is quite a treat to have it here. Another perk to this release is a studio version of 'Severance', very similar to their live take on the song, but their first studio release of new material since they broke. Need I say that this is a must for any fan of Bauhaus? It is sure to invoke the same feel their live performance induces.
