(More customer reviews)To me, this is the premier sax/ bass/ drums trio in jazz. Joe PcPhee is so powerful, tender, scathing, delicate,unleashed, lyrical. Jay Rosen can take his modest drum kit and turn it into one of the most powerful forces of propulsion imaginable or a whispering poem. And Dominic - well he can keep up with all the aforementioned qualities his comrades simply pour out.The University of Illinois set is a real blast. I can think of no other trio that can do more for your heart and mind and soul all at once than these guys. And as a bonus- the recording is superb - the dynamics are real! so you may want to first play it through to get a handle on just how powerful they get compared to the quieter moments.My highest recommendation!Also get the AIR set if you like this- and the box set of their 2006 tour and.....
