I'm a flute player, but not a fan of flute choir; I think the color of the sound and tone are very limited, like a group of bumble bees of organ. The Quintessenz has great arrangements on some master pieces; the orchestration is outstanding; they sound like a larger group or an orchestra; you don't hear bumble bees or organ sound in this ensemble. They created a better tone in flute ensemble.
All of them are best professional flutists from German. I went to NFA (National Flute Association) Convention 2009 in NY just last weekend and they performed in concert on Sunday and the last pieces in closing ceremony. This group had the best performance among all flute choir, ensembles in my opinion. I just have to have their recording after their concert in NY. Searching Amazon and found this wonderful album. I wish that the other three album will be available on Amazon soon.
