(More customer reviews)I first read about Schmitt's Lied et Scherzo in The Art of Horn Playing by Philip Farkas. He had a high opinion of the work. I played the piece with piano in recital during the years I played professionally in Israel. When I discovered this recording of the piece with the original instrumentation, I was excited that I'd finally have a chance to hear the piece as it was meant to be played (horn with wind nonet or some would say double wind quintet). The performance far exceeded my expectations. I was enchanted by the magic and colors of the work, and encourage anyone with interest in this work to get this recording!
