This is one of the very last concerts the Doobies peformed before they temporarily broke up. Recorded in 1983 in Los Angeles on cd & in San Fran on VHS, these 2 shows really show the band in top form. A great set list and excellent performances abound by Michael McDonald & Company. Being what they thought was their final performance, you can really tell these guys wanted to sound flawless & they did that very thing cuz they've never sounded better! Another cool thing was that the band had some surprise guests toward the end of the show. Several former bandmates who had been with them over the years joined in for the last 2 songs, including original founding member Tommy Johnston. It was a real treat to hear him do lead vocals on China Grove again. My only complaint is that an excellent hard rocking song (Out on the streets) from the vhs show was left off this cd. But all in all, a great concert & one that loyal fans should definitely not miss.

"Farewell Tour" is a live album by The Doobie Brothers. It documents what they thought would be their final concert. The front cover shows Keith Knudsen cutting the strings on John McFee's guitar as a symbolic gesture. Original lead vocalist and guitarist Tom Johnston is featured on the final two songs.
