All those other so called "Divas" out there like Jennifer "J-Lo" Lopez, Mariah "Heartbreaker" Carey, Whitney Houston, Janet, "Ms. Jackson if you're nasty" Jackson, and the three ladies from Destiny's Child had better stand to the side when The Acid Queen enters the room. All of the above mentioned artists and this includes Britney and Christina need to purchase this DVD, and let Tina show them how its done. Tina is the very definition of Diva, and only Patti Labelle, or Aretha Franklin could nearly keep up with her. Tina is the sexiest woman alive. She has the legs of an Olympic gymnast, and oozes sensuality just standing there. But when she breathlessly belts out "Private Dancer" with that sexy sax, she is absolutley everything, erotic, sensual, sexual, gorgeous, and boy does she hold that Rio crowd of 180,000 in the palm of her hand. No one on that stage could possibly keep up with her energy level on that HOT night in Rio. Tina sings her behind off, and leaves everything on that stage. Watch for the festival dancers onstage during "Typical Male" No one can do it like Tina, and Ike Turner must cringe evertime he realizes that he is nothing but a second rate guitarist, while Tina is an international superstar. Viva Tina!!!

This is,in my opnion, the best Tina concert video every. The concert was filmed in 1990 as part of the Foriegn Affair World Tour which broke record all over the world. The tour played to more than 3 million people and did 120 shows. Tina is absolutly amazing in this video. She gives out 16 great numbers with the help of her band, dancers, 3 costume changes, a suspended crane that goes 100 feet into the audience, and tons of fireworks and pirotechnics. And dont forget the huge 30 step stair case. The setlist includes Steamy Windows, Typical Male, Foriegn Affair, Undercover Agent For the Blues, Ask Me How I Feel, We Dont Need Another Hero, Private Dancer, Nutbush City Limits, Addiceted To Love, The Best, I Dont Wanna Lose You, Whats Love Got To Do With It, Lets Stay Together, Proud Mary, Better Be Good, and finishes with Be Tender. The only flaw in this video is that they didnt show the whole concert. The cut out Show Some Respect, I Cant Stand The Rain, and River Deep Mountain High. This concert was filmed at the Barcelona Stadium and was performed infront of 70,000 fans. GO TINA!

"Foreign affair" is one of those albums that you just must have.
Tina Turner is a legend in music and everybody thinks that her 1984 hit album "Private dancer" it's her best because of the several Top 10 hits, the bunch of Grammy awards that it won and the almost 20 million copies it sold but "Foreing affair is more than that. Tina is at her very best (I'm not saying that she is not good anymore)I mean her look, she was still with her long hair, her voice, her lyrics and singing were stronger.
"Foreign affair" besides being and album full of strengh and fantastic lyrics and sounds was a very big hit. It sold almost 10 million copies, was nominated for several Grammy awards and has classic hits such as the #1 "The best", and the Top 16 singles "Steamy windows", "Be tender with me baby", "Foreign affair", "I don't wanna lose you" and "Look me in the heart".
This album was produced by Tina and hit singer/producer Tony Joe White who actually wrote some of the songs for the album.
Whether you're a Tina's fan or not you must have this one, really you won't be sorry at all.

The legendary Tina Turner's latest studio album is a blend of modern pop music. Theres rock, pop, R&B, all mixed together in this incredible recording. Turners voice sizzles throughout the eleven tracks. Stand out tracks is the #3 dance hit "when the heartache is over", also the uptempo ballad "whatever you need" and the declaring "all the woman" also of note are the thunderuos "without you" which features a cameo by Bryan Adams, and "twenty four seven" which is a great fun rock number in which Tina does best. over all this is simply one of her best albums, i think its just as good as "private dancer" there really isn't a bad song on the album, her longtime fans will be pleased, and her new followers will simply enjoy. Whats amazing is after over fourty years every fresh Tina Turner project is simply the best. Do yourself a favor purchase this incredible album.

Tina Turner - Simply the Best (1992) Review

Tina Turner - Simply the Best (1992)

The whole idea of DVD's is their capacity to accommodate more material. But this DVD is no different to the VHS release although it does have 5.1 surround sound as well as the traditional dolby digital 2.0.
Firstly, do not expect any special features, this is a bare bones release.
The track listing is acceptable, yet fails in some ways. As many reviewers have stated, several of the videos have been replaced with concert footage (a big 'no no' for a video collection). What's annoying to me is, the songs that have been replaced are personal favourites so I am a bit cheesed off.
Let's run through them:
We Don't Need Another Hero - a 1985 video does exist out there, but we get a lacklustre concert performance instead with Tina screaming rather than singing.
Typical Male - do you remember the excellent video for this? Well it aint included on the DVD. We get a concert performance again.
I Can't Stand the Rain - concert footage again. Perhaps a video was not made for this song.
It basically means that someone at EMI liked the concert footage more than the videos and decided we would all agree with him/her. Not so.
There is other concert footage on the DVD but it's okay because that was the way it was originally filmed (eg. Tina's live cover of "Addicted to Love").
One obvious ommission is "One of the Living", the second single from the "Mad Max 3" soundtrack. Perhaps copyright reasons prevented the use of this track.
Also missing are videos from the 1970's including "River Deep Mountain High" or "Proud Memory". I assume this is because the DVD focus on the 1980's (why not say so on the cover?). Still, the DVD could have been updated to include hits from the 90's - one can assume that a Volume 2 DVD must be in the works.
One inclusion that is a good selling point is the alternative video version of "What's Love Got to Do with It" (which was scrapped), as well as the version that got used worldwide.
Overall Summary:
An acceptable DVD which has been given a nice 5.1 surround sound remix. Picture quality varies throughout. Menus are nothing special. A DVD for fans in general, but die-hard fans will be somewhat disappointed.

This concert was filmed in London in November 1999 to celebrate six decades of Tina Turner on planet earth. The DVD has been available in Europe since June and finally it will be available to American fans this November. The show is not the same as the one she's currently touring North America with. The concert starts with the 1966 classic River Deep, Mountain High. After this landmark song she sings the title track of her most recent album "24-7". The high tempo continuous with a great version of her 1989 smash hit "Steamy Windows". Although her recent European no. 1 hit and US Billboard Dance chart top 3 single "When the heartache is over" is not really suitable for a live version she gives it a try here. For the next song, the UK hit single "Whatever you need", she is joined by the London Gospel Choir. Two ballads, "Don't leave me this way" and her 1983 comeback hit "Let's stay together" are next before she is joined again by the London Gospel Choir for probably the best track of the DVD : a superb version of "Talk to my heart", also taken from her most recent album "Twenty four seven". Tina gives everything she's got in her rocking version of "Hold on I'm coming"(unavailable elsewhere!) and is than joined by Bryan Adams for 2 duets. Of course the 1985 smash hit "It's only love" and the recent duet "Without you". Although her studio version of "All the woman" on "Twenty four seven" sounds rather weak, the live version here is one of the most sizzling tracks I've ever heard. The concert closes with her two classics "Nutbush City Limits" and 1989's European number 1 "The Best". The dvd also includes birthday dedications from such artists as : Bob Geldof, Al Green, Dolly Parton, Annie Lennox, Cher, David Bowie, Mick Jagger, Phil Spector, PP Arnold, Bono, Mariah Carey, Ricky Martin and Sting + interview with the lady herself. The European dvd also included bonus material : Promo videos for when the heartache is over and "whatever you need" ( Superb Video! ) + a biography and a photo gallery. The best Turner video available to date !

For the first time, I had the bucket-list pleasure of seeing Tina Turner perform live this past Sunday at San Jose's HP Pavilion. For a woman approaching her 69th birthday and celebrating her fiftieth anniversary as a performer, she is a genuine force of nature - still as striking as ever and showing even more passion with her familiar repertoire. In conjunction with Turner's all-stops-pulled tour, Capitol has released yet another greatest hits compilation but this time following the order of the concert set list. Your appetite for this release will depend on how many of the other collections you own. There are several on the market already - 1991's Simply the Best, 1993's What's Love Got To Do With It (the soundtrack to her biopic), 2005's All the Best: The Hits - not including all the live recordings on CD and DVD and her legendary work with her ex-husband Ike. However, if you have not been a fervent follower since her 1984 breakout, Private Dancer, this is an especially worthwhile purchase.
There are eighteen tracks in all that cover the broad scope of Turner's career. Her years as the distaff half of Ike & Tina Turner are book-ended by the Phil Spector-produced "River Deep, Mountain High" from 1966 with his signature Wall of Sound in full force, and the autobiographical "Nutbush City Limits" replete with Memphis-style horns from 1971. Forget the covers by Celine Dion and Bob Seger, as both are indisputably her classics. However, Turner's signature song, as we all know, is "Proud Mary". Although for me, it always loses something without Turner's familiar choreography in view, she transforms the original by Creedence Clearwater Revival with the slow ("nice and easy") opening, the spoken-word intro, and the high-kicking, horn-blasting choruses. The comparatively polished version presented here is the one she recorded for the soundtrack of her 1993 biopic.
1989's Foreign Affair is well represented with the twangy power rocker "Steamy Windows" (the opening song of the concert) and her synth-heavy anthem, "(Simply) the Best". The percolating "What You Get is What You See" comes from 1986's Break Every Rule. But it's no surprise that "Private Dancer" gets the lion's share of the tracks here - the seductive title track, the underrated rocker "Better Be Good to Me", and of course, her Euro-infused comeback, "What's Love Got to Do With It?". There are four movie songs, two of which Turner played roles onscreen - as the drug-dealing Acid Queen announcing her arrival with Pete Townshend's eponymous rocker from the Who's groundbreaking rock opera, 1975's Tommy, and as Aunt Entity, the foreboding ruler of Bartertown, in 1985's post-apocalyptic Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome, from which she uncharacteristically sings the poignant anti-war ballad, "We Don't Need Another Hero (Thunderdome)".
The other two movie songs are the gently loping "I Don't Wanna Fight", the theme from her 1993 biopic, and the disappointing U2-penned GoldenEye, a typical James Bond theme from 1995 that sounds like it was written in the 1960's for Shirley Bassey. Three live performances are gratefully included here as well, the first two from her 1999 Amsterdam concert. Al Green's "Let's Get Together" gets a surprisingly churchy treatment with an organ-dominated opening, but Turner eventually sidles the song into its familiar clubby groove. With the Billy Preston-like keyboard pounding, Ann Peebles' "I Can't Stand the Rain" takes on a roof-raising gospel flavor. Taken from a 1986 concert at London's Camden Palace, her version of "Addicted to Love" doesn't have the curled irony of Robert Palmer's original version, but it captures the beat-heavy bombast and Turner wails mightily on the chorus.
The new tracks, both penned by Pat Monahan of the rock band Train and Robbie Williams' longtime producer Guy Chambers, show her voice undiminished in 2008. "It Would Be a Crime" scoots by with an inescapably catchy techno-beat, while "I'm Ready" is a more programmatic rocker hamstrung somewhat by the overly repetitive chorus. I truly hope these tracks indicate the release of a long-rumored album of new material. For those who are lucky enough to attend her current concert tour, you will find the following songs missing from this compilation: "Typical Male", her bluesy version of the Beatles' "Help!", "Undercover Agent for the Blues", the Rolling Stones medley of "Jumping Jack Flash" and "It's Only Rock `n' Roll", and her final encore, "Be Tender with Me Baby". So consider this album not a definitive collection but more of a nice sampler for those of us in awe of her. I believe that would be the majority of us.

The Legends Ike & Tina Turner - Live In '71 Review

The Legends Ike and Tina Turner - Live In '71
Average Reviews:

"Ike & Tina Turner - Live In '71" - even in this cut state - is probably the only full-length Ike & Tina concert available on DVD today, so for that alone, it's well-worth owning.
It's all the more essential, though, because it's truly a blast - this is the most energetic, soulful, joyous live concerts I think I've ever seen - and the songs themselves are just crazy, vibrant, brilliant performances by one of the most talented musical outfits of the 1970s.
Although the predominantly Dutch audience doesn't quite seem to 'get' it at the beginning - whenever should such a concert be a seated gig, anyway? - it doesn't take in the least from our appreciation of the atmosphere, and, even though there are one or two glaring flaws in the DVD presentation itself (several of the more noteworthy tracks such as "I've Been Loving You Too Long", "Respect" and "Shake a Tail Feather" are missing, why is this??), it still doesn't stop this from being a powerful and wonderful celebration of music and dance.
Tina's on top of her game here, to watch her is to really understand the love a great performer has of his genre. From her entrance, right up to the end of "I Smell Trouble", there's not one part of her body that isn't in constant rhythm with the music, and her voice is amazing - raspy and raw, with a power behind it that lends so much more depth to the songs than many of their original performers lacked. The dance routines with the Ikettes, thanks to what's now a more amateur and simple style of camerawork, are powerful and energetic; you want to get up off the couch and dance with them! "Proud Mary" and the amazing "I Wanna Take You Higher" are examples, but even on the more downbeat tracks such as "Honky Tonk Woman" and "Come Together" (the Beatles, except better! Who knew?!) the masterful combinations of musical arrangement, vocal and choreography show us precisely why the Ike & Tina Turner revue was such a respected live act.
This is an excellent DVD, the restoration - although not perfect - has a great audio quality, and the visuals are just fine. The CD is a nice addition, though it would have been better, obviously, to include all the tracks on the DVD. Special Features are interesting, including a great short of the Ike & Tina performance at the 1971 'Soul to Soul' concert in Africa. I can't recommend this DVD highly enough; even with its shortcomings, it's still a treasure and a great recording of one of the best live acts of all time.

One of the most dynamic R&B duos of the '60s and early '70s, Ike and Tina Turner were a force to be reckoned with. Their live shows, nothing short of legendary, were high-octane performances of carefully orchestrated music from Ike turner combined with the raw sexual energy of vocalist Tina Turner. I'm a big fan of Tina Turner and besides having her cd's I also have some of her live videos. And if you haven't seen Tina on stage, I have to tell you that you're missing an electrifying experience.
After touring for 4 years with sold out shows. Tina released this production in 1988 after the impact of "Private dancer" and her 1986 hit album "Break every rule".
"Tina live in Europe" cointains her biggest hits live as a solo singer (without Ike) and it also contains duets with: David Bowie, Eric Clapton, Bryan Adams and Robert Gray. There's a section on cd2 where Tina sings old classics such as "A change is gonna come" and "Midnight hour".
Tina delivers her best in songs like: "Help", "Let's stay together", "Two people", "A change is gonna come" and other ballads. But she also rocks with songs like: "Show some respect", "Proud Mary", "Typical male", "Addicted to love" (a classic on Tina's concerts) and "Better be good to me".
Tina's tour was worldwide but besides her incredible success of "Private dancer". In 1986 and 1987 Tina had an amazing hit in Europe with her "Break every rule" album and because of that an her early solo years. Tina felt that Europe was always there for her and this cd was a gift for her European fans.
This album won a Grammy in 1989 and sold millions in Europe and Asia, but in the U.S it only reached #88 in the Hot 200.
Part of this tour was her Guiness Records record of 1988 when she sang in Rio in front of 182,000 people at the Maracana stadium.

The only downside to the dvd for me was that the following eight songs had been cut in the final edit:
Girls
Two People
Nutbush City Limits
Steel Claw
Back Were You Started
Acid Queen
Show Some Respect
It's Only Love (Duet with John Miles)
A real shame because as ever for Tina Turner it was a fantastic concert at her prime.

I have to say this was a great show to watch; The intro was a great attention getter. I mean, if you're an Ike & Tina fan, like I am, then you got to get this video/DVD. Watching Tina & the Ikettes dancing from this 1971 film makes it clear to me where a lot of today's artisit get the desire to dance in front audiences, at least got it indirectly. Hip shaken and everything--did TV even show those kind of moves back then? Well with the exception of James Brown of course. And as most Ike & Tina fans know, there isn't that much legit footage of their performances. So this is worth getting for Ike & Tina viewing only. I was kind of disappointed that Santana wasn't shown much; although their performance of Black Magic Women was great. THe guiter sounds and intensity, it was great. I liked watching the energy of the Voices of East Harlem. I never even heard of them before watching the DVD. The young singer on that DVD was like another MIchael Jackson of that day. This kid was even doing the moon walk way before Michael. For the DVD, the commetary was good. You get to hear Ike Turner speaking w/ Les McCann about where his ideas fit in for his reveue, interesting. One thing to note, is that the Guanians (?) new who Wilson Pickett was; it's like they only came to see him, and no one else. The last performance of the film shows Picket singing land Of 1000 dances--wow! I mean the audiance went crazy. Watching them dance gets you energized. They start flying over the stage--mosh pit, I think. It's like everything done today by muscians really isn't something just invented, it's been around for years. You can also tell by the African dancers. Man, they really had it--I mean it's just soul, and they show it.

Both of these concerts serve as amazing recent chapters in the long, impressive performance history of Tina Turner. The voice, the legs and the energy have not yet seemed to wither! The Amsterdam concert is a little more slickly edited in that "music video style," but the songs are great! Tina really rocks (most notably during her heavy metal version of "I Heard It Through the Grapevine," and the climactic "Nutbush City Limits.") The second great concert at Wembley seems more fashioned as a theatrical performance - with Tina taking a seat onstage for the first time that I can remember! She sizzles during her seated low-key version of "Steamy Windows," but also cranks it up for the famous "Proud Mary" hair flip dance number! This is a great opportunity to have both of these great concerts TOGETHER! Now how about releasing a COMPLETE Tina Turner music video (video, not live performance) anthology on DVD??? Like the song says, Tina is simply "The Best!"

Tina Turner turns 70 in November this year. Keep that in mind when you watch this show. To have energy like that, not to mention LOOK the way she looks at that age, it's amazing. Vocally, she's in fine form, hitting surprisingly high notes, and alwyas with her signature power and soulfull growl. Nobody works a stage and audience like Tina Turner. She has a relaxed, one-on-one rapport with her audience that's wonderful to see. The picture is crisp, with great definition, that helps make how she looks all the more amazing. The audio is wonderful, and blasts right out of my speakers. The CD that comes in this set is fantastic, as it is the audio of the same show on the DVD. Live albums, by most artists, can be dicey things. Not everyone sounds great live, in fact you really don't want to hear some artists' attempt a live album nowadays, as they rely on every trick the studio can come up with. Not Tina. Her live shows have always been legendary, and her Live In Europe album is incredible. All in all, this set is fantastic, and the price is perfect. Likely, this will be Ms Turners last go around on the tour circuit, so get this and be captured by her magical presence once again.

First, let me start off by saying, I bought this DTS DVD before I even had the surround speakers, and I wouldn't watch it until I got it all set up. It was worth the wait! If you like Tina, and even if you don't (this will change your mind) and you want to see an incredible concert DVD get this! Tina is amazing. Her version of Proud Mary rocks, and it is hands down the best song & dance routine I have ever seen! Her dancers are outstanding and have to give their all to keep up with Tina. It's like Tae Bo x 10! Also, her musicians rock the house. Get it, you'll enjoy it!

Wildest Dreams Review

Wildest Dreams

In the 1980's, the now legendary success story of Tina Turner made her one of the biggest female recording artists ever. Her days of loneliness with Ike were over, and she now back on track, with multi-million selling albums such as "Private Dancer," "Break Every Rule" and "Foreign Affair." A greatest hits collection, "Simply The Best" followed in 1991, with the soundtrack to the autobiographical movie on Tina's troubled life, "What's Love Got To Do With It?"
Fans were left eagerly awaiting Tina's latest release - her first album of brand new songs in seven years. It arrived in September 1996, and was called "Wildest Dreams." The album has experienced moderate success in America, but big sales have been achieved in Europe where Tina is by far at her most famous. The album produced many Top 10 hits and further proved that - now in her 60's - Tina Turner is still a rock legend and a true force to be reckoned with.
Wildest Dreams opens with the fantastic song "Missing You." This cover-version is absolutely fantastic, and Tina's vocals are very impressive. Heavy guitars and drums are added to awesome effect and violin strikes towards the end are particularly enjoyable. A fantastic Tina classic. "In My Wildest Dreams" is another highlight. There is only one word to describe this song - sexy! Tina's vocals are gravely and husky in such a mysterious tone, and the beat is deep and moody. The lyrics are equally intense, and a vocal guest appearance from Antonio Banderas spices things up even further. With "Whatever You Want," Tina goes back to her hardcore rock roots by pumping out this absolutely amazing power ballad and sings to her lover, telling him that whatever he wants, he can have. "Do What You Do" is a pure pop dance number. An infectious beat dominates the song, and Tina's incredible vocals twist around the arrangement perfectly.
"Thief Of Hearts" is a brilliant dance number in which Tina hits the disco floor and belts out a fantastic song about loving guys, giving them what they want, and running away while stealing their hearts. "On Silent Wings" is a wonderful mid-tempo ballad which will relax any listener. Tina's vocals are once more on top form, and the beat is very open and beautiful. You can imagine Tina stood on a mountain top singing this song, because it has such an excellent melody. "Something Beautiful Remains" is an average song on this album. It's not the best song, but it's good enough with some great lyrics and a mysterious beat. "Confidential" is another highlight. Penned by the Pet Shop Boys, the song is about Tina telling her lover that she can keep anything confidential if he indeed confides in her. The melody is relaxing and tranquil, and Tina's voice is smooth and silky.
"The Difference Between Us" is not featured on my version of this album, so I cannot comment on it. "All Kinds Of People" is a wonderful mid-tempo song about the various races in the world, and how everyone is equal. A real quality power anthem. Tina's cover-version of Massive Attack's "Unfinished Sympathy" isn't as good as the original version, but it's a worthy effort. "Goldeneye," the theme from the James Bond film of the same name, is another album highlight. Tina's trademark husky vocals make this song sizzle, and the traditional strings of a Bond theme are also present. "Dancing In My Dreams" is an excellent ballad in which Tina sings about dancing in her dreams. There isn't much of a beat, but the drums make for a heavenly kind of image in the brain.
OVERALL GRADE: 9/10
Wildest Dreams is not Tina Turner's best album, but it does come very close to being so. It seems that at present, Tina Turner is taking a well-deserved break after a hectic 40 years in the music business. The woman deserves all her success and the fact that her record sales are fast approaching 100 million is something to be very proud of. Wildest Dreams is the kind of album that you can put on to chill out or relax to. It's definitely not a party album, but it's not meant to be. Buy it now and experience this legend.

This is a very rare 1996 CD EP of Tina Turner. It was done as a promotion for Hanes Hosiery due to her famous legs, printed in limited copies. It has 3 music tracks, and is titled "The Collector's Edition" 1996. The 2nd track is unique to this disc, and the remix is impossible to find elsewhere. This is a great item for the Tina Turner collector or completest.
Track are:

Tina Turner - One Last Time: Live in Concert (2000) Review

Tina Turner - One Last Time: Live in Concert (2000)

Well, Tina has done it for one last time! I sadly missed the actual concert tour, but I have the almost perfect VHS to make up for it. This concert took place in such a huge stadium, that it was amazing how Tina's voice overpowered the audience and the band.
This is the list of songs she did on the tape.
I want to take you higher, Absolutely nothing's changed, Fool in love, Acid queen, River deep Mountain high, We don't need another hero, Better be good to me, Private dancer, Let's stay together, What's love got to do with it, Help, Whatever you need, Try a little tenderness, I heard it through the grapevine, Addicted to love, Simply the best, Proud mary and Nutbush city limits
The sound and picture are as clear as if you were there in person. Tina and her band performed some songs faster than in the studio versions. These songs were Simply the best, Better be good to me and Nutbush. I liked the audience's approval and Tina's enthusiasm while ruling the stage for one last time. There wasn't a boring song in the programme.
Unfortunately, the DVD version has Xtra songs. The songs were edited from the VHS for no apparent reason. The editing is perfect though, because between songs, we don't wait long. Tina comes out for almost every song without a break! It shows Tina saved her best for last, and that she was a ball of pure energy on that stage.
The VHS is formatted for widescreen, just to let you know. A truly fantastic live concert and a memorable experience for any Tina Turner fan. I think this is the actual show that PBS took for their tv version a few months back, but nothing compared to this! After 4 decades of success, Tina Turner deserves to be titled "Simply the best"! A must have for everyone. Get it while it's hot.

Blasting out hit after hit from her amazing four-decade career, Tina proves herself once again to be... simply the best.
