Rufus Wainwright Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)Rufus Wainwright is an unfortunately little-known singer/songwriter with a very strong, very loyal cult following. His debut self-titled debut album is tpyical of what has become Rufus' own genre of sorts. Yes, his own genre, because there is absolutely nothing like Rufus' work. His music is hauntingly original, using varied instruments to acheive a near-perfect range of sound.
This album has no profound information regarding a bad childhood, inner-city living, or even the trials of the working man. It is an eclectic assortment of music that reflects the little things of life like love. Rufus' voice exudes the emotion that the listener begins to feel from listening to the elegant lyrics flowing effortlessly from their speakers. This album has been the most enjoyably diverse that I have purchased in 12 months.

Leonard Cohen I'm Your Man Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)Saw this film at the Los Angeles premiere end of June 2006 - the film is full of love for the creative talent of an extraordinary wordsmith whose music mystically takes his words to an even higher vibration.
the film is so real the audience gave standing ovations for performances in the film!!!
And Leonard himself came out to thank the audience, saying he was retiring to the green room to fortify himself with a drink to deal with "the moral pneumonia that comes after the blizzard of praise."
OBTW - he did say he was thinking of going on tour again - at 71 - imagine!

True Colors: The Tour CD Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)Having seen the tour in Boston, I was intrigued by the possibility of a live CD from the tour. Was a Lauper and Erasure fan in the 80s, love the Dresden Dolls and discovered The Gossip. VERY dissapointed that this is just a compilation disc with a few unique mixes. Was really hoping to have some new live tracks of some cherished groups. Nothing on here interests me - at least nothing that I wouldn't go to the source (original release) for. I guess it's a fair sampler if you're new to the music.
